Carpel tunnel pain
splint, avoid annoying movements, painkillers or surgery are among the things that can help. here is the NHS page - nhs.uk/conditions/carpal-tu...
I had surgery but it wasn't as successful as hoped. desquinn is right about splints and avoiding movement. I use splints most of the time and biofreeze gel. I have to avoid driving when it's really bad as it just aggravates it. Hope you find something to help.
I have a very active 3 year year old so the operation isn't an option for me as recovery time is so long
I’d say doing nothing 😢I have RSI and CTS, having these on top of fibromyalgia and sciatica and .... It’s awful
I had surgery it worked for me
Please make sure it is truly carpel tunnel syndrome, as I had this for sometime, but when I saw a specialist, he said it was fibromyalgia. I wore hand supports, when using the computer, and had no treatment, and gradually it all improved.
There is a simple test to check for carpal tunnel youtu.be/rQJNrkq7tIs
Thank you everyone I've been diagnosed it is defo carpel tunnel in both wrists although I have fibromyalgia as well it is linked so I believe.
I think I’ve read that carpal tunnel can be linked to hypothyroidism. Have you had the nerve conductivity test? My husband had carpal tunnel problems and, after about 30 years of varying degrees of hand issues, had the surgery on one hand last week; it has worked well and he is waiting to have the other done in a few months’ time. I am against surgery unless it is absolutely necessary because I treat scars and can feel the damage but sometimes there is no other alternative.
Good morning [in the USA]
I had a severe case of carpal tunnel, both wrists. I had surgery in 1982/83 to release the tendon and carpal nerve in my wrists, problem solved, 8 month recovery, but it solved the problem
I had carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, tennis elbow etc etc. All sorts of fobbed off diagnosis. Basically just told to stop doing whatever it is I'm doing to aggravate it (working, living etc!)
Turns out (after 10 years) it's a central nervous issue.
I'd recommend trying everything and keeping a log. How long you spend doing any one job, what you've eaten if you have a bad day, etc
Ice helped me, sometimes with hot patches alternating. B vitamins and stretches all soothed the localised pain in my arms and hands.
Hope you find your relief
An operation on my right hand was the only outcome for me, as had just given birth to my fourth child. Began to suffer with left hand whilst expecting my fifth (and last) child! I stopped salt and sugar completely from my diet and it worked. Didn't need another op. Having said that, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia not long afterwards, so perhaps it's all connected? Good luck with getting the necessary help. PS splints and rest and pain medication help as well. 😊🌻🦋
