Hi, it’s best to check with Dr or Pharmacist before you take any new Meds especially if you are taking other Prescription Meds. People who take blood-thinners, certain Blood Pressure Medications, have certain Heart problems, are not advised to take Anti-Inflammatories, and other contra-indications to many to mention.

Take care.

GP. 😊😊

Flarin is a brand and the active ingredient is ibuprofen. Care should be taken not to take Flarin with other medications that also contain ibuprofen as you could then exceed the maximum dose.

Yes I know however a couple of days nearly free from pain is worth taking now and again , if you have no contraindications or you haven’t got any side effects 👍

Yes we all have days where we can't take it anymore and or we have to do something we need to be "well" for so if you find something that works for you it's good to know it's there.

Delmarky, as others have said Flarin is a brand name of Ibuprofen. Lots of medical advice about Ibuprofen, personally I find it the best thing but my doctor would prefer me to take something else so I try to take it only when I really must.

But the real point is that generic Ibuprofen is a fraction of the price.

For example on an online site 30x 200mg Florin is 8.59 while 48x 200mg generic Ibuprofen is 1.39.

Really worth talking to your chemist about generic (i.e. non branded) versions of any drugs you buy.

I chose Flarin due to it being combined with a gastro- resistant medication to protect tummy. I had tried Ibruprofen but didn’t help , just don’t know the difference here same medication , however helped 👍🙈

Personally I would never take a PPI (tummy protector) After my husband had real trouble I researched them and found medical opinions that they should only be used where people have serious problems, like ulcers or severe hiatus hernia, not as 'protection'. They are very powerful drugs that alter the system's function significantly.

In my husbands case he had no issues but our doctor prescribed them because he was taking Ibuprofen. After taking them for about a year he developed symptoms which resulted in invasive tests and months of worry (problems swallowing food, feeling of lump in the throat and more) which were eventually attributed to the PPI. Then when he stopped he had horrendous acid reflux for over a year.

They are handed out like sweeties here in Spain, to the extent when I had surgery they put it in my drip but once I was switched to oral meds I accepted it and threw it away when the nurse left.

I believe in informed consent when it comes to taking any medication and would urge anyone taking or considering PPIs (omeprazole etc) to do some googling.

Since this medication is the same as Ibuprofen, people who have kidney problems shouldn't take it.
