Hello lovely people. I was lucky enough to have appendicitis a fortnight ago and after a couple of days had laparoscopic surgery to remove it. The doctors also discovered a ruptured ovarian cyst while they were in there. I’ve had surgery before for gall bladder and endometriosis (confirmed that there was none) and don’t remember the pain being so bad afterwards. It’s been a 12 days since surgery and I still feel so sore in my abdomen. The surgical wounds are great, the issue is the nausea and hot stabbing pains in my abdomen, they come and go but are bad enough to take my breath away when it happens. There is no infection - I don’t have a fever and the wounds are fine, but I’ve never had a recovery like this before. Has anyone else had the same experience? I’d love to be able to feel a bit better soon!

Post surgery pain
Sorry to hear about you needing surgery. Fibromyalgia can delay recovery from surgery, and I would imagine can also lead to increased pain however after 12 days you would be expecting it to be starting to settle down. If pain continues to be as severe, might be worth mentioning to your doctor if you haven't already done so XXX
Hi
The fact that you had an ruputured ovarian cyst indicates the presence of endometrosis and might be why your post op pain is so bad. If you contact your doctor and ask for some more painkillers. I'm assuming you got some strong painkillers for after your op?
If you pop on to endometrosis uk here on healthunlocked the girls there will be able to give you some advice re your pain and your endo. Do you have any discharge notes?
Xxx
i had a hysterectomy back in 97 and iv had pain above the scare ever since , i mentioned it at check up and they said it would be fine in a few weeks , still have the soreness ,and if i bump it against anything the pain floors me , dont know what is causing it, and iv given up asking , i think its nerve damage , in fact my fibro started after the op
Sorry to hear you are suffering following your surgery. Last year I had my gallbladder removed, laparoscopically - It took me a long while to recover from it and I think it takes us longer is fibro warriors. I hope you start to feel better soon but if not please see your GP x gentle hugs
Hi, I had an ovarian cyst removed in 2007, and if I do too much I get a stretching, niggling pain in my side. I had a hysterectomy in 2001 aswell so there will be a lot of scar tissue in my abdomen. You've had a double whammy, and after 12 days I think you are expecting too much from yourself. Paracetamol should relieve pain from inflammation. Are you doing too much, on your feet a lot, or trying to do the things you did before you had surgery? If so, try to ease up on yourself and rest. If that's not the case, I would contact your GP just to check that everything is OK. If you are feeling hot and cold, or start to feel hot and cold and shivery, definitely contact a doctor. Take care.
Thanks for your replies everyone. The pain is slowly getting better and my mood is starting to lift, it just takes longer than I thought it would.
