Pip ( and esa) is based on how your condition affects you and your ability to do things on a day to day basis.

It is not based on your diagnosis.

You can obtain more information from FMA UK benefits helpline 0300 999 0055 (Mon, Wed,Fri 10.00-12.00) - although it is closed Monday coming due to public holiday. You can also email benefits.advice@fmauk.org

As HazelAngelstar has stated, it is how you are affected on a daily basis. A diagnosis (regardless of what the diagnosis is) does not give you an automatic right to any benefit.

You can find out more about the benefits and concessions available to disabled people here on the Rugby Fibromyalgia Support Group website fibromyalgiarugby.wordpress...

Fibromyalgia is recognised by DWP etc as a disability.

It is worth trying for PIP. There are guides that can help you with the forms. See my earlier post here healthunlocked.com/fibromya...

PIP is a benefit to help, assist you with your daily living activities and mobility. It is not awarded on a diagnosis or illness or the amount of prescription drugs you are taking.

I understand that, but last week during my wife's PIP phone interview they wanted to know what tablets, when taken, and the amount.

If it doesn't matter why do they ask ?

It's a a bit of a puzzle

If your wife goes to claim pip and has a disability or diagnosis then knowing and asking what medications your wife takes will be some prove and need for the taking of the medications and the amounts and times taken

I received Enhanced for Care & Enhanced for Mobility as well, but I had to appeal then went onto a tribunal twice, as they lost my files.

All in all it took 18 months of form filling, phone calls, tears, sweat and more tears.

Worth it in the end though!
