Hi their, I have recently applied for pip, I have heared some people have being qualified with 0 points, so basically every question answered the person who recieved it thought the person was capable of doing? I dont get how some people get qualified with zero points when they apply because they cant do some/most things started on the form. Thankyou for reading I'm so new to all of this so I do hope what I'm saying makes some sense to you, G

The Disability Assessor writes a report on the claimant. They do not have to accept what is written on the form by the claimant. Some people lie and some claims are downright fraudulent. The face-to-face assessment is designed to allow the Assessor to reach their own conclusions from the written form, medical and other evidence submitted with the form and their own observations of the individual. For many conditions or disabilities the extent of the typical disability is well understood. Variable conditions are far harder to assess. Fibromyalgia is one of the conditions where the extent of the disability varies greatly between people.

The report from the Assessor goes to the DWP Decision-maker who decides whether PIP is awarded at all, and if so, at what rate, Standard or Enhanced. Anyone who disagrees with that decision has to seek what is called a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) where another Decision-maker looks at the case again. If the claimant disagrees with the MR decision, they can appeal to an Independent Tribunal of three people.

Ok so claimants send their form, form is assessed then appointment is made, attend appointment then you find out if your entitled?

Does anybody know how all this works with everything that is going on at the moment regarding no face to face appointments etc.

Thankyou.

They are doing telephone calls instead of face-to-face at the moment.
