Pip and winter fuel payment

Good morning Fibro Warriors.

Am I reading correctly that the government are giving winter fuel payment of £250.00 to anyone receiving Pip for the winter of 2023/2024.

Not taking into account to what was received 2022/2023 I am wondering if this is new for Pip claimants.

Gentle hugs x

I've rang the Winter Fuel freephone line and you have to be under 57 years. I got confused over the bit if you have disability benefits such as Pip you qualify for £250 so wasn't sure if it was age related.

Do you mean over 57 years?

Think she means be born before 1957 so it would mean pensioners this is the last year they get double winter fuel payment, I think that’s what she means

Thanks! 😊

Thanks Ajay, when I saw the list of disability benefits which included Pip I was thinking does that mean it's not age related!!!

I did also read somewhere that those on PIP will get help. I hope so otherwise its going to be really cold in here.

The way I read it I was thinking Pip claiants would get £250 but after contacting the Winter fuel payment you need to be born under 1957. Last year I tried to survive the winter with an electric blanket during the day, I was utterly miserable.

Hello last year I used to get warm home discount but now I don't because gov reckon I don't qualify anymore as I don't spend enough even thoughmy energy bill has nearly trebled ism on pip and income related esa used to get it for last 10years but from last year now the gov taken over I lost my warm home discount I wrote to them asking why as meet there criteria but they just sent letter saying don't meet the criteria anymore ? Thousands of people lost it and again this year its gov saying who does its criminal that people just left off just because they reckon don't spend enough heating even though I've had to cut down usage catch 22 I hate the gov so much atmo as they are targeting pip and esa claimants like second class humans anyone else see in news and papers the term economic inactive

Hi, you have to be born before 1957 but maybe entitled to £150, apparently you get a letter in October if eligible

Winter fuel payments only apply for those of pension age.

For everyone else they are called cost of living payments.

The £150 disability payment was paid in July for those in receipt of PIP on the 1st April

No other disability payments are listed, the next low income payment for those on benefits is due by mid November.

Thanks, Ive posted benefits and works comments. Pip claimants unless on means tested benefits will not get the second lot of cost of living payment.
