Hiya pennycakes are you new if so welcome to the gang. You will find lots of support here.... yes I was awarded pip but I do have other conditions too. The form looks frightening I know. There are some friends here that may give you some tips but I think your best to Join A1ESA/DLA/PIP BENEFIT HELP AND SUPPORT. They have a step by step guide to help fill in the form. They give you loads of help and there are a lot who have gone through and still going through the same things as you. Good luck and take care x

Well welcome again angel. You will find this site friendly and supportive. Someone from Admin will be along shortly to advise on the forum....the one thing to remember while filling out the form is ..if you can't do something repeatedly, safely and reliably in a timely manor..they have to class you as you can't do it.... xx

Hi pennycakes

Welcome to our friendly fibro forum where we can get advice, support and help along with a chuckle or two.

Have you seen our Mother Site fmauk.org?

Here you will find a wealth of information, guides and links to all things fibro, including advice about benefits.

If you look across to your right to Related Posts in blue you will see other members personal experiences and tips. Also enter PIP in the search box to see more information.

The Citizens Advice is good, but they do get overwhelmed. Don't turn up, ring and make an appointment first.

Also Google for a Disability Advocate in your area.

I wish you luck, it is a formidable form to tackle.

Hi Pennycakes, when I filled mine in I made sure that I got across how bad things are on my very worst day , it's very easy to slip into answering how you're feeling at the time of filling in the form, I found it hard to do this as it felt like I was exaggerating , which you're not , they want to know how you are on the very worst days.

Also write down at the end of eachocolate answer ' my needs do not vary' or something similar, that way it makes it clear that on every bad day yourneeds remain the same.

There's a website you can use to help you too, I think it's called Benefits and work.

I hope some of this is helpful along with the replies from other members .

I hope you have a relaxing and as pain free a night as possible.

Yes Benefits and Works is an excellent resource. Janet our very own advisor, her contact details will be among the list to the right has access to the guides. If you have failed before as others have said do try to get help with filling in the form as the wording counts.

With the mobility component remember that even if you could manage the distance stated would attempting that leave you totally exhausted and in pain for the rest of the day? If so stress that and state that you have to keep stopping and resting.

In the care it us what you need help with whether you get the help or not. We are finding that using aids to do a task can sometimes actually go against you sometimes with the PIP as they can wrongly assume that you can then do the task easily. If you do use an aid but the task is still difficult or causes pain and fatigue remember to state that. I included a diary log of a couple of days before in a typical week. One day was when I had a reasonably early medical appt. and all the planning and pain that caused and then another more normal day. Both listed everything from the moment I opened my eyes eg having to be brought my breakfast so I could take medication which would then start working and so would enable me to do stretching exercises which would help me get out of bed. Then showering and washing hair, then dressing, then trying to cook through the day before preparing for bed. Tasks on one side and timings, help required in the middle, effects on pain and fatigue in the third and time taken. If you do that it might shock even yourself how much longer it takes to do things than a fit person.

Hope this helps and good luck.x

Hi pennycakes welcome to our wonderful forum ☺I'm sure you will come to find the forum invaluable in chatting to others who are going through the same experience as you & talking to others at different stages of their lives with Fibro & learning from their experiences.

It does help with the whole process and I wish I had found the site years ago. I have had Fibro for nearly 30 yrs and I'm still learning about it, like we are.

I see you have already been given some good advise which I can't add to, just wanted to say Hi ☺ and I look forward to chatting to you on the forum.

Peace, luv n light

Jan ☺ x

Ps. I also advise you to stay safe on the internet & lock your post. you will find easy to follow instructions in Pinned Posts in Blue on the right of your screen.

Just tell the truth but what ever you say don't say you can walk any further than 50 mtrs And rember these people are trained how to not award benefits Also if you have Fibro in you fingers as Ido You can't really pepare hot food for your self

Please can I ask how fibro affects your fingers? Mine are really stiff and painful and I have one on each hand which locks into a painful position, also pain across the palm below the fingers which is also a little swollen - I just assumed it was arthritis?
