Alcohol & Fibromyalgia

Can the odd glass of wine or rum & coke make Fibro pain worse?

Is it safe to drink any form of alcohol while taking Lyrica etc?

I think it is all dependent on what doses of meds people are on and what combinations and different people's metabolisms. I always enjoyed a glass of wine with an evening meal but stopped when I was put on painkillers and lyrica I was in so much pain I lost my appetite and wondered whether a glass of wine would help. I mentioned this to my doctor and he said just to have a very small amount and see how I felt and if I was fine just to have a small glass with a meal. I find I am fine with that but I don't have one every night just when I fancy one. Some medications I wouldn't drink anything with so best to take advice. I have to say that my doctor appreciated a good glass of wine so perhaps he was biased, lol.x🍷

Unfortunately, there's no right or wrong answer to this one. I enjoy the occasional alcoholic drink, however I only have one or two maximum because of medications. Other people find they cannot no longer tolerate alcohol at all.

I find that I've gone off alcohol now - I would have the odd glass of wine or small beer once or twice a month. I just don't do well drinking too much anymore it seems to magnify the pain 😪 shame as I used to enjoy a few drinks!

I don't drink alcohol anymore, because it seems to make my fibromyalgia symptoms worse. Perhaps you could ask your pharmacist about drinking whilst taking medication, they are usually very helpful and knowledgeable.

I've gone off alcohol. I still have the odd glass for special occasions especially Christmas day when I have to put up with the monster in law 👹.

I think it varies person to person, and on the meds. But personally, I've gone off alcohol for the most part since having Fibro. Could be the meds, but I feel it's mainly the symptoms - that drinking just doesn't go well with them. Which is a shame - I was never a big drinker, but used to enjoy a few drinks at the weekend!

I have a few glasses of wine most nights and doesn’t make me feel any worse than I already do.
