It definitely isn’t all in your head! Unfortunately it’s not known what causes FM so we can only treat the symptoms and try to mitigate stresses in our lives. I’m sorry you had to join this group but you’ll find this a friendly community x
Hi and a warm welcome to our community. Here you will find information, support, friendship and laughter too. You can find more information on fibromyalgia at our main website fmauk.org xxx

IC is a sidekick of fibro and the worst pain ever
Hi, What painkillers have you been prescribed? It’s usually trial and error to find what works. I find Celebrex 100 mg to be good(instead of ibuprofen) - I will take two in the morning - ( an take another two at night - it was suggested by pain clinic at my hospital. I also have tapentadol slow release 50 mg and non slow release 50 mg for breakthrough pain. Also Solpodol 30/500 mg. all on prescription. Is there a pain clinic you can be referred to?
Welcome to the Fibro Club; the one nobody wants to join!
Brain fog is only one of the joys of it!
Yes, we have to learn to plan things carefully, try to get hold of a RADAR key; your local disability shop should have them, then at least you can get into Disabled loos, which are usually locked, especially in the less well populated places. They cost from about £6 to £10, depending where you get them from.
Pain varies from day to day, also some folk have less pain than others. Like fatigue, you will likely find you have a baseline of fatigue, which can increase rapidly when you exert yourself, even with relatively mild exercise.
A good thing to look up is the Spoon Theory, which explains the way that fatigue and pain can suddenly catch you up.
I hope your doctor has referred you to Physiotherapy, they can give you gentle exercises to keep you supple and mobile, also supply you with walking aids, such as a stick, or rollator, or even wheelchair, although you will have to wait several months for a chair.
Occupational Therapists can help with things such as rails outside your home, bathing and toilet aids, and sometimes cooking aids, such as a kettle tipper.
Hope this is helpful,
Cheers, Midori.
Hi well we all know its not all in your head! Every other part of the body also! Some people think well I cant see it so it's not really there. You will however get brilliant people on here who are so kind and thoughtful. We all go through the same pain some have additional issues also and I think we are a great support for each other. You can have a good old rant and no one will ever tell you to go away, it's great to share your every day challenges with like minded people. So welcome fellow fibro fighter! Hope you find the community as supportive as I have. Looking forward to chatting. Sending positive thoughts, love and peace 💕✌🌈
