Dry mouth - amitriptyline

I'm recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I've been prescribed amitriptyline. I have been taking it for about a week and have such a dry mouth. I know this is one of the side effects, but does it wear off? Thank you.

For me I still have a dry mouth and I’ve been on amitriptyline for a long time. Everyone is different though. It is the only drug that helps me so I am happy to put up with it x

Unfortunately Dry Mouth from many of these type pf pain drugs can end up giving you tooth decay and nerve root problems etc Not good !! Same with Lyrica which i prefer to Amitriptyline (started on Lyrica 75mg and got myself down to 50mg).

Keep your mouth moisturized thru the day... try mouth sprays, artificial saliva, sugar free gums and fluoride tooth paste

neither Med you mentioned is a pain medication. Lyrica I tried but can’t take and I tried Amitriptyline years ago and I felt no emotions. No tears when my father or father in law died with in weeks of each other. That was for stress. Now I’m Ready it could help with fibromyalgia? I was curious what mgs they use on it?

Me too, just prescribed that this week and have notice and immediate change in how dehydrated I feel, especially first thing in the morning as I take mine at night.

It usually passes by lunch time so I always have a bottle of water handy x

I have been on it for 18 months. My mouth is still dry but I just keep sipping water. It really helps me to sleep so it’s worth the dry mouth. I also feel a bit dozy in the mornings.

Add dry eyes to it also!
