Jury Duty

I have had fibro for over 30 years, I didn't know what my problem was for 10 years, I thought I was going mad, when I eventually saw a consultant he informed me I had fibro. Recently I have been told I will be on jury duty between July 2020 and 2021. I am really worried about this as there are many days that I wont be well enough to do this. Has anyone else been able to use Fibromyalgia as a reason to be excused from jury duty?

Yes I was excluded from Jury Duty about 2 years ago. I wrote back to them explaining my condition and symptons, and they wrote back saying my service was cancelled.

Thank you for that. I would prefer if I didn't have to go at all, the court is about 20 miles away and at times I cant drive. Ill speak to my GP.

Also back it up with a letter from the doctor. With Fibro we are physically and mentally impaired and this should suffice for those administering the jury service.

If I go for a Jury service it is likely that I want to put everyone in jail 🤪😜🤣🤣🤣🤣😀😀😀

So sorry for my mischief today, hope you have a better night, just exhausted myself for years of sleep deprivation, it’s really hard

Hope we all manage a better night including Lynne who is always awake 😍😍

in reply to Painny

Thanks OK no need to apologise, I've had some sleep woke with lovely headache 😣but still.

I don't know how Lynn copes, she's always around to chat to at night and so positive I mean I'm on my own so can nap when I need to she's got hubby and family don't know how she copes .

Take care and thanks I've got a lot going on at the moment and banter like that help me. 😊⚘

Thank you. Ill speak to my GP.

I don,t really know but I would say if you can get your g.p to saY you suffer cog, impairment and doze off unexpectedly you might get excused.

Fibromyalgia as an excuse the judge will not buy. The issue of falling asleep during the trial because of sleep problems caused by pain is something the judge will probably take seriously. You cannot hear the evidence presented because you fell asleep. The pain you had kept you awake most of the night.

In the interests of justice you need to be able to hear all the evidence presented.

In criminal court proof is beyond reasonable doubt, it’s a heavy burden. One has to be constantly awake. On the other hand in civil trial proof is on a balance of probability, a nap should be fine in this court room 👩‍⚖️ 😀😀⚖️⚖️

A book by John Grisham called THE CLIENT is the best book I have ever read while back regarding a criminal trial 📸

Can't say what the present conditions are but my husband has been called twice and has several health conditions. Each time he had to attend. You may not be called to actually be part of a jury hearing a case, sometimes it's a case of hanging around and waiting to see if you will be called. I worked in law for many years and accompanied counsel to many trials and it is very difficult to estimate how long a trial may last as pleas change on trial day, halfway through etc etc so it's a case of how long is a piece of string trying to estimate whether or not you will see the inside of a court room. Be honest with them, they may let you off this time but will probably keep you on the list and you will be recalled at a further date.

I am 69 years of age so only have one more year of jury duty. My problem is some days I am not really able to take in information because of fibro fog and the fatigue. Sitting in one position for any length of time is also a problem. I hope my GP will give me some support.

Get as many letters as you can together to support your request. Hopefully they will be sympathetic

🤣🤣,as they say not if I see you first thanks for the reply and your daily jokes, 😂😂.

PS I would send you a kiss but don't want to make mrs Z jealous.

Oh yeah just like that.😂😂🤣😊.

That was lovely.

🤣So you unknowingly turned your cats into cat nip junkies, and you are on a health kick 😹.

Awhile back I knew someone who was a vegetarian his surname was mutton 😂.

Knew a couple their name was Philip and Phyllis their 🎄card read from Phil and Phil Purchase, and with a surname like that he was a accountant!!🤣, laughing at the moment keep hitting wrong keys.

Oh yeah my initial, are MA never married but always said never marry anyone with the the surname being with D!!!🤣😂🤣,
