This is my first post. My name is Lois and I live in central New York in the United States. I am not big on posting but I enjoy reading suggestion on how to feel better.
I am the mother of one adult son who is a Pastor. He is married to a wonderful young woman and had two children who are the light of my life. We are in the process of moving to be closer to them but it has been slow going. I want to be in our new apartment but I am having a hard time getting packed and moved. Moving from my house into a small, senior living apartment is hard. I am having to get rid of so many things I have grown up with.
Greetings and God Bless,
Lois

Lovely to hear from you from my favourite place I ever visited. Over here removal firms will pack for us have you tried for that? Nothing more stressful than moving house.. We also have good charities who will take things useful for those less fortunate than us..
Hi Lois welcome to the group none of us want to be in x there is nothing more stressful than moving house remember n pace urself. take care gentle hugs xx
Oh, I know that problem; I am in the same one myself.
Trying to keep hold of the memories of family and friends is difficult when you have had a long life. Knowing what to keep and what to jettison is a hard one.
I am trying to juggle the contents of 3 houses into one small bungalow, and it isn't happening! Heartbreaking decisions need to be made.
It makes it worse that I cannot drive and my new home is 250 miles away. Even getting stuff to storage means asking friends to help; and I don't like to make a nuisance of myself.
A very warm welcome to a super forum where you can ask questions and make great friends Hope your moving goes well and hope to hear from you in the very near future.
Hi I know all about downsizing as I went from a 4 bed house to a narrowboat lol. I made a box for keepsakes and then looked at stuff I hadn’t worn or used in years which then went to charity or recycling. It is very enlightening getting rid and you soon realise you didn’t need it all. I wish you happy sorting ❤️

I know, it's awful to move which is why we're in the same house for 48 years. I look around and can't imagine moving even tho we'd like to be in a Senior community. Feeling lousy doesn't help. We moved to Utah from Calif. in '70, with 4 kids, 5yrs to 6mo. Rented for a year, then bought this house. Why?Because Calif. was smoggy and scary, and hubby's sis lived here. We moved here with no job and no house....blind faith. Married 56 years now, Adopted a 2nd son from Korea in '78 at 10mo. The others were born to us. Fostered 2 teen Viet. Refugee boys. Can't imagine doing that now. Fibro hit at about 40 something. Lots of grandkids, some of whom I Day cared for years....my joy. Now have 4 great grandsons and their grandmother, our daughter, has them several times a week and loves it. Lost our oldest daughter to cancer at 41...almost 14 years ago. My hubby has Parkinson's. And, the story continues. I hope you can get moved and be happy. M.A. In USA
Good luck Lois - moving is a nightmare and exhausting at the best of times - I am also new to this site and not great at posting but it is relief to begin to see other peoples stories and to try and build a better picture of this condition.
