HI Im familiar with bupenorphine and find it to work well for pain, with no side effects of being high or weird feeling. I seen that theres a very low weekly patch of it which has me interested. (although no drs seem to be able to prescribe anything) anyone use it?

thanks that stinks it didnt work .I feel awful tonight. my hubby brought the family on a hike today which was nice but took all of my energy . I barley put a salad together now im in bed and feeling nauseas with a headache and a feeling of complete exhaustion . how are you?

I use the 5mg Butran patch. I only use it when I really need to, it helps a little with the pain but doesn't completely take it away just helps to make it more bearable. I'm on a low dose & I'm sure my consultant would increase this if I requested but I don't like to wear them for too long as for me personally it sends me a little bit away with the fairies & although that can be quite a good thing with all the issues I'm also going through in my personal life, I don't want to become reliant on them. My consultant did tell me that they are not addictive but I think I could get addicted to the feeling it gives me. I avoid driving whilst wearing one & it also gives me more episodes with my sleep apnea. Worth a try, these medicines work different for different people I think.

im used to the medication because I take kratom everyday I guess. It is definitly a med. where you can get dependant but than again so is virtually everyother med including ssri and snri's so idk honestly what the big deal is, theres pros and cons with everything I guess.

Yes, I agree. I am dependant on some of my other medication. I've been taking diazepam for 20 years & although it does nothing for me anymore, I'd rather just take the tablet than go through the withdrawal. I have tried but was in a really bad place mentally so was told to continue to take them. Same with my antidepressants, been taking them for 25 years & have to occasionally change due to them having no effect because of the length of time I've been taking them. So when it came to pain relief I told my doctor & consultant that I do not want anymore addictive medication, I refused tramadol, etc. No I don't have to pay for my medication. I'm too ill to work & have separated from my husband. I have to keep focused for the sake of my children.

Hi, I have been on a very high butrans patch for about 6 years then about 3 years ago I reduced all my meds . Iam now on 10mcg patch weekly, the lowest dose is 5 meg so I don’t understand why they are saying they can’t give you a lower dose. What dose are you on ?? X

no Im trying to get them to give me somthing Im familaiar with it because my husband has it so Ill take some on occasion. appantly I can not get anything for the actual pain here prescribed Its very upseting . I wondered if anyone else has it and how it works for them. I just dont understand why Im not allowed .

Thankyou ! Im in the US. I know its terribleI also have very bad low back due to degeneritive stuff and we didnt even talk about that when I was there last I feel like Im written off and cant get any help

I too have degenerative back problems that’s nothing to do with fibromyalgia, you just have to try and find a dr that understands and that is willing to help. I know the USA & UK are so different with healthcare. I wish you luck x

yes its terrible it hits a solid 8 every single day I can barely make dinner by evening and stand . im just tired of living in pain IDK whats the point of being a dr. ? she said the only "approved meds for fibro are cy,balta or lyrica

Doctors on this side of the pond are running scared when the word OXY is mentioned. Fortunately for me low doses of OXY was the only thing that took an edge off my pain. So when I knew they werent going to prescribe it any longer I took myself off it with the understanding that Buphennorphine-Naloxone might help in place of OXY. And beginning a few months ago low doses of the film (Not a patch for me) did help, but then the MAJOR, and I mean MAJOR, side effects began. Large bleeding eruptions began showing up on my face, forehead, neck, and in my hair. Additionally, the itching was awful, along with blurred vision and all of my food tasted like metal. Though these are known side effects of this drug along with others, each, of course, affect us differently. Anyway, for me this is the most brutal drug I've ever taken. And that includes Lyrica, Cimbalta, and Tramadol. When I see my doctor on Wed I will ask to be taken off this drug. The less than amusing aspect of my situation is they KNOW OXY works and various doctors have admitted that I'm not prone to addition as I took OXY for over 4 years and quit cold turkey without withdrawl. But, I won't be prescribed OXY because he doesn't want me on a class 2 narcotic. Though Buphennorphine-Naloxone is a class 2 narcotic. Go figure.

right there is a versoin w/o the naloxone sorry to hear about your bad side effects . I know how it works for me and thats why im comfortable with it. but they wont give me anything . the patch is very very low doses mcg. slowly released over the week . I dont know why they wont prescribe it.not like it can be abused.

and as far as dependancy thats witgh almost all including the SNRIs so I dont get it

Hi, I’ve been using the 10 mg and 5 mg BUTRANS patches and found them really effective. It was suggested by my GP about 3 or 4 years ago and I found I was able to function more without being dragged down with constant pains. I had a problem when the chemist decided to replace my BUTRANS with BUTREC... I had to ask for them to change it back again, I was allergic to the glue. I was told butrec is the cheaper version, not sure how true that is though. Best wishes !

so youve been on it how long? and its still effective for you? my husband doesnt want me to go on becauser hes "stuck " on it.and says it would only work for a few months but he doesnt understand how my quality of life has decreased and it could help me. pros vs. cons type thing. my doc. wont listen anyway they wont prescribe anything. It seems to me like it would be a good fit though.

I’ve been on it approximately 5; years and I prefer it to taking oral pain killers to be honest. I started at 5 and then 10 and then now I’m on 10. I’ve just had an ileostomy and have had codeine on top. Most tablets seem to pop out nearly whole again so the patch now is more effective for me, I think everybody has different tolerances with pain relief. When the dose was too high I did feel goofy. I’m not having any side effects now, but I know if i re move the patch after a couple of days my body is in agony and I’m back to being completely useless again. I have cymbalta which definitely helps me aswell, best wishes

I pay a monthly prescription fee for my prescriptions which covers how ever many or few I have. I think a regular prescription per prescribed item is about £10 now here ....
