Does anyone know of anyone that got awarded pip for fibromyalgia itself with no other conditions? Its meant to be treated as a disability yet I know of no one that gets pip with it and one other condition
Just curious: Does anyone know of... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Just curious
Hi curlybacks, the thing with PIP is it's not any condition that you have that qualifies you for PIP,but how any conditions affect you during a typical day.
Say you have fibromyalgia, you have to tell the DWP that your condition causes me a lot of pain that you can't get washed, dressed, without extreme discomfort, or you cannot clean your house by yourself as your pain and fatigue stops you in your tracks. Also you cant stand to make a dinner from scratch and you have to have microwave meals.
So basically these typical issues could be for many conditions, but the premise is still the same,......it's not what you have, but what you can't do due to the condition. Hope this has helped somewhat. John.
I know this about pip already however thanks for the explanation just in case I never knew that.😊
Hi Hidden ,
It's not what you have been diagnosed with which qualifies you for PIP, but how your disability/illness affects you on a daily basis. xx
I know this, why can't everyone just answer a question I am not with out a brain I'd simply like to know if anyone and I do mean anyone has ever known of someone to of been awarded with pip with fibromyalgia just as one condition only ,that's it,nothing more, nothing less, only what I asked.thanks and please all continue to enjoy your day.😇😀
But your not seeing that it doesn’t matter you can have any condition and not get pip it’s based on the impact of your disability not on the condition ... the dwp doesn’t look at the name of the condition just at how you fit in the 8 or so questions they have
I'm already aware, you're not in my head so do not tell me what I'm not seeing.I have full knowledge, I wanted to know what I only asked to see if people were treated as if no illness or with bias, instead everyone's jumped on same band wagon.
Look at it this way .. as far as DWP are concerned everyone is the same and has no illness.. what they do their assessments on is how you function on a day to day basis -can you walk , dress, etc etc
I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue I got awarded pip - but my conditions really affects my ability to walk - I’m in constant pain and struggle to do various daily tasks - but as others have said it’s not the condition they give you pip got it’s how it affects you etc.
Thanks rob ,I'm glad you understood that I was in Noway belittling anyone's including my own conditions, just that fibromyalgia is classed a a disability and I just wondered if indeed people were witness to it being treated as such you know?.
Yes but the dwp don’t care what’s a disability or not .. they just have a one size fits all test designed to avoid awarding pip to the majority in need
Hi, I have just been awarded pip for Fibromyalgia problems.
I was awarded PIP and the only condition diagnosed by my doctor is Fibro. However I pointed out to the assessor and wrote on the forms everything that diagnosis can include eg. chronic fatigue, IBS, migraines etc. She was definitely more concerned with how it affects my daily life as stated by other people that have tried to answer your question. I feel your comments are quite abrupt.
