I wrote a blurb yesterday about the frustration of the every 4 hour pill cycle and today I've been to the GP who has prescribed me with 10 Bu-trans which last 1 week per patch.
In theory, this is incredibly awesome, and I put it on at 3:50 in the afternoon.
She told me NOT to take tramadol and codeine. So, its on and several hours later and I have the most uncomfortable skin pain. Its like pins and needles and burning mostly on my legs and feels a bit like I'm on the verge of some Restless legs.
So, whatcha'll think? Is it because of the Butrans, because of the tram/codeine withdrawal, or just because FM is just so amazingly AWESOME! ??

I was on Butrans but unfortunately had to stop as I was getting the most terrible irritation around the site where the patch was which was getting worse each week. Apart from the first few days when i felt rather spaced out I had no other side effects.
Wondering whether it is you stopping the Tramadol and Codine straight off rather than it being slowly reduced especially if you have been taking both drugs for a long period of time.
Hope those sensations soon go let us know how you are doing.x
I was on the Butrans patches. I only got a red skin irritation around the site of the patch even though I was changing the site of the patches each week.
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue, and if it gets any worse or persists it could be beneficial to return and discuss this with your GP? I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck with your patches.
it is hard to say what it is that's causing this because you have two things going on. the withdrawal of your medication and the start of a new drug. it can take time for your patches being absorbed into your system. do you have any redness around the patch or rash on your body. if concerned give your gp a call or go to your pharmacist for advice x
Thanks everyone. I'm now starting day 3. I decided there was definitly some withdrawal issues and began a very low dose of Tramadol along with my usual Gabapentin, amitriptlyne etc...
I am still having issues with the nerve pain. It is not as bad though, so it may go over time when my body adjusts to the reduction of the medications I was taking or simply gets over a bout of RLS.
In day 2 I discovered that the nerve pain is actually accompanies with little constant muscle tremors which move around my legs. Rotating about a 5 inch area behind my knee, up and down the calves and thighs. If you have ever had an eye or nose twitch, stick it on your leg and that's what it feels like. Its quesy inducing but I'll get over it.
