Fibromyalgia and diabetes

Hi everyone, I'm just having my first flare up for some time and since the last one I've been put on insulin to control my diabetes. I've had difficulty controlling my sugars since the flare up started and wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I'm trying to work out if there's a connection or not.

As diabetes is an Endocrine condition I am wondering if your thyroid is behaving and you have been correctly tested ? An un-treated or under-treated Thyroid can lead to diabetes so worth ruling it out with the appropriate testing - TSH - FT4 - FT3 and Anti-bodies TPO & Tg ...

Sadly they won't all be done in the NHS - the T3 is the most important of all and still the labs do not do it ... SIGH !

Hi KBM0g3r ,

Yes, there is definitely a connection. I'm also a diabetic on insulin, and when my pain increases so do my blood sugar levels.

Did you know that a tablespoonful of cider vinegar and a pinch of cinnamon in a glass of water (either hot or cold water) a couple of times a day helps to regulate your blood sugars. x

Sugars can increase with the body undergoing stress or other factors. My oh sees her BM change with the flu, with stress or with an infection etc.

Hi, whenever you are unwell due to any cause, it will upset your BM's as it seems to be the way diabetes reacts to illness. I think it's unlikely to be fibro causing your diabetes to be unpredictable, more likely the other way around. I don't envy you. Take care.
