Can someone help it been told jv been put in support group for ESA did claim 20th Feb but u get no back pay, something to do with being on assessment stage just confused as everyone seems to get back pay

It is terrible mines been 92 days, but everyone else i know has been backdated n their claim took less time than mine

For the first 13 weeks you will get basic, then , after that , if you are placed in support group, you will get extra. In your case your claim has been settled within the thirteen week assessment time, so you are entitled to nothing in back pay, as you have been paid at assessment rate for the assessment period. Unfortunately they are correct, but, in actual fact, you have not lost out financially.

As far as I am aware, if you are on assessment stage you don't get backdated as you would have been receiving some form of payment - but I am not sure how true that is. Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you for definite.

I live in Scotland so not sure if you have this where you live, but it's like citizens advice through your local council and they are very good at helping you fill in ESA and PIP forms and know all about benefits and can advise you of what you are entitled too x

I got back pay for 2 years, twice and compensation of £1350 for taking so long, then they paid that twice!!! 🤔😛
