I refer to fibromyalgia I do not c it as a diagnosis but a tick box exercise we all have different types of conditions the levels used to identify our classification are as I remember 7 psi to 14 areas of the body being objective I have noticed a vast majority are not over over weight but obese this muse be dealt with 1first then others will improve.lessening impact in lives Yes some may think I'm being horrible but take to Ur consultant,go about getting the best way to loose excess weight if this means getting a excercise at home or speak to a gym good luck long journey ahead. You are more able to leave drugs alone.

How many of you get meds for free?

Yet £10 00 ISH a month for the use of the NHS pharmacy system I'm entitled to free meds but that £10 a. Month is a small gesture but makes me feel I'm contributing back to the best way of getting a little back to NHS.

Obesity is unhealthy regardless of condition. I don't suffer with obesity. Loosing weight and regular exercise doesn't help with chronic fatigue, chronic pain and Fibro frog. I did the 6 week course did it help. No it didn't. Although regular exercise and good diet is good advice for everyone.

Fibromyalgia diagnosis is not simply a tick box exercise... There is growing evidence from research that it is a central nervous system disorder. There is also no connection to a person's weight..... Although being overweight is not good for your general health, and in losing weight then yes a person can benefit generally but not necessarily have less pain. Also many people with fibro are normal weight or under weight.

You choosing to pay for medication rather than receive it free is a personal choice. In Scotland all prescriptions are free.

I think you are mistaking the fact that the original tender point test which used a specific amount of pressure to certain areas was meant as a research classification tool. It was then used in diagnosis but was unpredictable or unreliable as males were underrepresented and other issues were not being measured.

The tender point test does not exist in the ACR 2010 diagnostic criteria.

I am overweight but over the past 2 - 3 years I've lost 7 and a half stone, has it made me feel any better? Nope. It did help a couple of problems that I was having but that was it. The pain and my mental health are worse if I am honest. I also tried the gym previous to being diagnosed with FM, I would end up being ill on the sofa for days.
