Fibro and pain with intercourse

I was wondering if anyone else has EXTREME PAIN WITH INTERCOURSE. However, I am going thru menapause and have used everything to help it. I can't use HRT Meds my mother had breast cancer in both breasts and my older sister is dealing with it now. I want to know if anyone else has this problem and what are you doing, I do know about all the specific toys to use to get me lubricated but still have severe pain.

Hi Sayson

I am so genuinely sorry to read this and i have pasted you a link below to an NHS Cache on painful intercourse so I sincerely hope that you find this useful:

nhs.uk/chq/pages/974.aspx?c...

Unfortunately many of the issues that you may associate with Fibro can cause this if the pain is in the pelvis area such as:

pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

endometriosis

fibroids growing near your vagina or cervix

irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

constipation

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Can ibs cause pain during intercourse? I've never been able to actually have intercourse because I discovered I get severe pain in penetration and had to give up I just assumed I was over sensitive?

Hi slippingintochaos I am so genuinely sorry to read that my friend, but yes, IBS can cause painful sex. I took the information directly from the NHS choices website. I want to sincerely wish you all the best.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi ya.Just had to let you no that I too suffer terrible pain during interiors. It's so uncomfortable that I avoid full intercourse. My husband is very understanding but he often gets carried away and I yell out in pain !!! Can't handle it ,get no joy from sex and it wouldn't bother me if I never had it again and I'm only 46 and like you going through menopause. So you are not alone huni. Having fibro and being in constant pain anyway do little to encourage my libido.LOL xxx

I was told for years by Doctors it was a lack of Oestrogen but after seeing a Dermatologist who knew straight away it was Lichen Planus an auto immune condition. That made sense because of having Crohns disease and Hashimoto's. The treatment is a steroid foam and also shower with Aqueous cream and not to use soap in that area.

Try Sepia from most health food shops, has qualities to holistically raise the body's general feeling, so makes any meds/others work a bit better. It is also very good for period pains, both my daughters took for three days before and two days in, and still do nearly 20yrs on.

It might be worth looking at homeopathic meds that help cope with pain in different types, Arnica is a good example, or Calendular used as a moisturiser/lubricant.

Sorry for being so blunt, but this is a hard area to talk in soft 'nice' terms. Hope you find something that helps, this is a major part of any relationship, and brave you for posting as you have.

Will look for anything else that might help, you are welcome to

PM me about more personable problems in this area. Not medically trained, but many years spent using homeopathy with cats, farm cattle, as well as my original family, has taught me how many simple things can have a great effect on our body's capability.

Hayesider, think you are brave to raise this, xxxxxxxx

I am so pleased that I am not the only one with this problem. I thought it may have been from a painful insurgence of my last coil. I didn't think that it could have been down to the Fibro, but it would make alto of sense.

Without being too rude, once I have gone through the pain I do enjoy sex, but it is the initial pain that is putting me off.

I am so relieved that there are others out there, but sorry to hear of this to you all. The pain is excruciating and wish I could go back to how it was!

Big hugs to you all Eloise xx

It could be a numbers of things Endometriosis, Fibroids, Adenomyosis, IBS. Best thing to do is ask your doctor to refer you to a gyane clinic. If you want to talk privately feel free to private message me.

Can empathise Sayson re not being able to take HRT. had cancer myself and cannot use HRT. Have you tried sage from Healthfood shop, or online, I've found the best I've had is "Solgar"- suitable for vegetarians and vegans. I take two in morning and two at night.
