Burning in chest

chronicallyfabulous profile image

I keep getting a burning feeling that feels like it’s at the bottom of my throat and down into my chest. It feels so weird and it hurts like hell.

Any ideas what this could be?

I’m going to speak to my GP when I see him next but wanted to see if anyone else experienced this!

it sounds like it may be acid reflux - but as you say, best to speak to your gp about it so it can be checked out. xxx

I've got severe acid reflux and this is exactly what I would describe it as. Much worse when I lay down too. It's a very intense burning sensation that starts at the very bottom of the throat and feels like it radiates in to the chest.

That is exactly the same as what I get. If I bend over whilst I have it I feel like I’m going to be sick, I feel like I need to burp or I get horrendous bottom burps that smell disgusting (sorry for the tmi). It spreads in my chest and feels like it goes under my breasts.

How do you cope with it @Pinkribbon88? I have tried Rennie but had no luck there xx

Sounds like typical symptoms of reflux. It's easily treated.

Definitely sounds like acid reflux, you can buy ranitidine tablets over the counter to see if that helps?

Possibly best to see your GP first though.

try extra strong mints or mento's, i find they help me when on it catches me out, it might help a little till you see your gp

It’s horrendous....I’ve just been diagnosed with GORD and a hiatus hernia which sounds exactly the same.......go to GP and get it checked I left it weeks thinking it was just heartburn or indigestion etc...and Just got worse so on loads of different meds now to settle it. If it is GORD then check online as there is lots of stuff that’s a no no. Hope you get it sorted xx

Oh yes I have. I was on Nexium twice a day and was weaning over to generic protonix because it is cheaper. I had almost was off the nexium when that burning all up and down my esophagus happened. I ate something that set it off and it the generic protonix wasn’t able to handle the heartburn.
