Welcome MSM-Poole yes mobility can be a bigg issue for us, I wonder if you know there is another forum on Healthunlocked? if you go to My Communities above and i thedrop down there is an NHS weight loss help forum, maybe they can help you along?
Hi MSM-Poole , I can honestly say when I lost weight it definitely helped with mobility and pain. I am not a big fan of fad diets so I managed to lose 3 stone by changing some bad habits and using few tricks. Making my own soups was helpful as I knew exactly what was going into them. Plus they are easy to make and as I could batch cook, I would make a load and freeze the portions so there were ready to heat up when I was hungry. Helped in resisting the temptation of reaching for quick more fattening food. Even just changing size of my dinner plate to a slightly smaller one helped as you feel you are having your usual amount of food but in fact are having a smaller portion. So good luck with the weight loss and welcome to the forum. x
Welcome to the forum. Yes if you can keep your weight down I am sure you will have less pain (less strain in your poor muscles and joints) and psychologically looking at a slimmer self helps the depression which often goes hand in hand with fibro. We know it is easier said than done as many of the meds we are given don't help with that and when we are down it is easy to eat comfort food.
The best way is not to have have any unhealthy snacks in the house. Having good raw veg such as carrots, cucumber, celery etc cut up and out in a container in the fridge helps for when you get the munchies. I don't deny myself treats all together but a cake is once a week and I really enjoy that and I adore boiled sweets so allow myself 4 a night something to look forward to.
Don't obsess with the calorie counting just eat regularly and healthily and hopefully you will see a difference very soon. Good luck.x
