Hi Hun, my gp referred me to a rheumatologist. As far as I'm aware you need your gp to refer you, unless you go directly but that can only be as a private patient. If your gp is useless can't you see a different one in that practice? Otherwise, if you can't afford to go private, you could try and change to a different practice if there are others in your area. Hope this helps and good luck with it all Hun xx

As to your question It can take many tests over a lengthy period of time to get a true diagnoses of fibro. The doctors need to rule out what you haven't got not what you have. This means a lot of blood tests maybe x rays etc and if all else fail a visit to a rheumatologist.

It took me 10 years to get diagnosed but I have it for over 30 years now. But if you wish to you could as Miss68 said go private and see a rheumatologist But most doctors like you to go through them first when going private. Good Luck with finding the right result. Please bare in mind it may not be fibro that's why all the tests are necessary xx

Hi Hun, apart from having a fuzzy head due to broken sleep and spasms in my leg and spine I'm not too bad thank you. It's a lovely forum/ board to be part of. I tend to agree with practically everything you say lol. You have far more experience than I do when it comes to fibro. My benign spinal cystic tumour that I tend to deal with on my own, despite it being the cause of why my fibro started. Oh well, life is full of struggles and hardships. Thank you for your lovely kind words and for being there for us all. I hope you're beginning to feel better too Hun. You've been through so much lately. Take care and gentle hugs xx

Hi Hun, yes like dizzytwo states ideally it is much better to go through a gp as they're the one's that end up caring for you long term if it is diagnosed as fibro. Also, like Dizzytwo says, the tests are necessary to determine exactly what your diagnosis is. Good luck Hun xx
