Every time i tell someone they always know somebody else who has it. And when I saw the dental hygienist and was talking to her about it, she said she'd had 5 or 6 other patients recently who also had fibro.

Maybe it's just that it's more recognised now as a proper illness and not just in our heads. Either that or GM foods have a lot to answer for :D

I agree with you hun, the more medics in various categories who see us suffer the more it is accepted and noted on our records, a lot more widespread publicity around now so lets hope we get more recognition.

I feel most people don't talk about it much because of the non believers and overall bad rap that fibro has. So there are a lot more people that have it around us and only find out when it is brought up.

I don't mention it to too many people.

At least there are some people you know that you can bounce ideas off of and get advice from, people that you could hang out with that will understand and not be disappointed because you aren't up for a night out. (A night out for us is much different than other people) heck my bed time is what time some people get started partying.

Anyways, i only know one other person that has it and is not any help of bouncing off ideas and won't even really talk about any of it. It is quite frustrating, but that person and i are different people and that issue to deal with. Hopefully you will have some helping ears around you. If not, you will always have this place, which is amazing. :)

Take care×

I'm pleased that you have found others with the same illness as hopefully you can support each other. None of my old schoolfriends have it (for which I am pleased as I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy) and until I did none of them had actually heard of it.x

I think in time research will start to show different causes that will sub-divide fibro into different classes.

Just my opinion and random thoughts but something the other day made me think.

Long explanation. Neighbour's great grandchild having serious particular developmental & behavioral issues. She was unloading onto me ( ex sp needs teacher, long retired) She mentioned genetic testing and I immediately thought of a syndrome I met over 35 years ago, described at the time as rare. Googled it and was amazed. It's now recognised as the most common cause of these particular symptoms. The genetics of it can all now be explained.

Got me thinking how many other children I worked with all those years ago, whose parents couldn't be given a definitive diagnosis, who were told their child had " general developmental delay" , would now know specific causes ? Research must give a lot more answers to parents nowadays .

Maybe, just maybe, in time some of us will get answers, and maybe doctors will take this c****y illness seriously.
