Hi here is some information about myself. I am just waiting for a formal diagnosis for fibromyalgia. Looking at the symptoms I might of had this for a few years without knowing? I have IBS also have had bladder problems since 1997 suffer with acid reflux. Had unexplained cough for over a year. Last year was the worst year ever. Suspicious lump in right breast which they think is a cyst. Complex ovarian cyst still on going. Pyelonephritis of the kidneys. November last year was diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica? But now thinking fibromyalgia. I am currently having to take steroids. And just recently been prescribed gabapentin excuse the spelling hoping for some improvement in symptoms.

Hi I am new
Welcome to the forum. We can fully understand the misdiagnosis as it happens to many people on the forum and also often a very long wait to even have any type of diagnosis.
Many of us have IBS and gastric problems it seems to go with the territory. I don't think all the meds we have to take help. I do hope the Gabapentin relieves some of your symptoms. Drugs like that and it's sister drug Pregablin which is the one I am in can take a fee weeks to start helping but hopefully if you can stick with it you will notice some improvement.
If you have time take a look at our mother site Fibromyalgia Action UK as it has a wealth of information on symptoms, meds and also alternative treatments. The main thing with Fibromyalgia is to try and avoid stress, take gentle exercise, have a good diet free from sugar and artificial sweeteners as much as possible and to pace yourself.
Look forward to your future posts.x
Thank you for your reply it's nice not to feel alone and there are people here who will understand what it is like. The last few weeks have been really bad had to make a hard decision in cutting my hours at work not ideal as it my money that pays all the bills. Tried to claim universal credit to help but they wanted me to look for extra work. The only way round this is to get a fit for work note but that is a problem at the moment. Because of not having a formal diagnosis. I hope to get this when I see rheumatologist on the 13th September. I am sure all this worry and stress is not helping? Will keep you updated on how I get on.
Good luck in the 13th September won't be long now. Hope then a formal diagnosis helps. I had to give up a job I loved which I had done for many yearsvbut my job entailed sitting on an office chair most of the day which is a big no no for me and having a mind like a razor which wasn't possible when in pain and fuddled with tablet side effects. Brain only functions at half speed most days now, lol.
It is so difficult when it is your wage that is relied upon to pay the bills. My husband became ill exactly a year before me and had to give up the job he had done for 38 years so until we got the benefit situation sorted out that took two tribunals we had to rely on our savings. We were fortunate though that we had paid off the mortgage to our house. No stress is not good for fibro as it tenses up all the muscles. Hopefully if you can get the Universal Credit sorted out in a few weeks that might help ease the burden. Yes please let me know how you get on.x
Hi there,
I only joined this site a few days ago and I have already found it really useful. This condition is horrible and it makes it worse during the trial and error of meds.

Hi I am new too
Hi I am still waiting on a formal diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Had originally been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica still have to take steroids at the moment but have recently been prescribed gabapentin it's early days hope this new medication gives me some relief. Will let you know how I am doing hope you get some relief from the back pain soon know how that feels. Mine is caused by hydronephonosis of both kidneys which is probably not the same as spine pain keep me informed in how you are doing.
