Started to write post and it disappeared so hopin you don't see it twice started few weeks ago dose of 300mg gapaentin last week&half of 600mg doc wants me to get to 900mg eventually I'm finding more visits to the toilet than usual love a little chocolate but think it makes it worse but hardly touch alcohol cause of tablets do tend to have more stomachache than usual(side effect I'm thinking and tummy looks like I'm pregnant not possible at 56) sometimes little nausea not every day.Would be grateful to hear of anyone that's on gapapentin and their experiences especially the sort of dosage I'm on does anyone find it more of a relaxant cause I don think it does much for pain relief(for me at moment) been on it 2mths a least. Hugs to anyone out that havin rough day . Xxxxx

Oh YASMINTINA , 300mg is very little, I wonder when you take it(?) Usually that would be a starting dose, if it helped at all it should have been gradually increased until you found a plateau.

I've been on It for 2 1/2 years with 300mg to spare though thinking of trying to reduce but I do stupid things which make me 'need' to keep to the current dose. It has really good results for me though in a very short time i put weight on though that hasn't continued.

This is my own experiences, others will come along and have different thoughts. We are not Dr's and can only tell you of how medications affect us.

Hi :)

I am on the maximum dose of Gabapentin and did have some weight gain when I first started it.

I have had bladder problems my whole life (I'm 56) and have been diagnosed with urgency to pee and have been put on some medication to help with it.

I haven't noticed any of the other side effects you have noticed.

Gabapentin does take a while to actually get into your system and start working so I would give it another week or so, if you can cope with it, to see if 600mg helps.

It may be worth seeing your GP (if you are able to get an appointment) to ask if the problems you are experiencing are down to the Gabapentin.

Thank you for the hugs you sent out and sending some back to you.

Lu xx

Hi Yasmintina, my GP put me on 300mg of gabapentin about 2 weeks ago with the idea that I was to increase the dose every 3 days until I reach 900mg a day.

It caused me to feel completely out of it and unable to do anything at all for the first 2 days. As a result I slowed down and waited a week before increasing to 600mg. This is where I have stayed because I was asked to make an appointment with my GP for in 4 weeks time but the receptionist insisted it wasn't possible to see my GP until September 11th. My tablets will have run out by then.

Anyway, as you say, I've noticed no pain decrease at all so far but maybe I just need to get to 900mg, who knows??😶.

Lots of hugs xx

I thank you for replying that's terrible my doc now makes an appointment before I leave now so don't have to go through receptionist that's how I got diagnosed eventually with fibro(good doctor)ring again as you must not run out it's not good to stop them suddenly and as receptionist they wil have had some training they should know this. I'm going back in week@half so should think about starting 900mg at weekend but differently had more side effects since being on 600mg although I know it's not the highest dose compared to some people . Yes like you no change in achy body as I call it il see when I've been on 900mg if any change he's a good doctor so again he will follow my progress.Thats a lovely name Falabella good luck my friend will keep in touch I too stayed in today some housework in between dinner cooked but havin to have afternoon sleep and rest I was always so active my lovely hobbie of gardening has gone down the pan this summer I do love watching the programmes still. I watched love your garden with Alan Titchmarsh last nite it's wonderful when they transform a garden for someone in need it brings happy tears I love seeing people's smily faces. Xx

Hi, only just read your post about Gabapentin. I was on similar dose to you, just felt light headed , more dopey than usual! A little unsteady , would have failed test if police asked me to walk in straight line, kept bumping into people, lots of whom didn't accept apology very well! I ended up accidentally, pharmacy changed my three 100mg tablets to one 300mg and I hadn't noticed, so ended up on triple dose for a week! How anyone can misuses drugs I don't know after that, I was on another planet, GP told me to stop them straight away instead of weaning them down, she said I would go cold turkey and I certainly did for a week! Also tried pregabalin and others , this is why I won't have Fentynal, I've tried them all, all I got was side effects and no pain relief at all , maybe if I'd kept on at higher dose I just wouldn't have cared about the pain! ( joking) I know some people swear by the medication, but I Havnt really heard anyone say they are much better taking it , it seems you up the dose then add something else to it as your body becomes used to it, not for me I'm afraid, despite the pain . I do hope your not feeling too bad at the moment, this last GP I saw said they just started running a clinic for people addicted to prescription pain killers , and they are a fairly rural practice not a city one. She said they now have a policy of start with low dose and keep it low, which is the opposite of what I was told a year ago All this makes me so wary of drugs , I just hope I can carry on without them, but who knows. All my best wishes for a comfortable and fun weekend , find regards, Sandra x
