Hi Caral

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted for you below a link to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:

fmauk.org/

.

I am so genuinely sorry to read of your ''head shocks'' and *Effexor has this kind of issue listed as a side effect:

Common Effexor side effects may include:

vision changes;

nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;

changes in appetite or weight;

dry mouth, yawning;

dizziness, headache, anxiety, feeling nervous;

fast heartbeats, tremors or shaking;

sleep problems (insomnia), strange dreams, tired feeling;

increased sweating;

.

There are many other medical conditions that can cause this and the *NHS Choices website says that Dystonia can, and I am aware that many members do suffer with this, and it has been discussed her frequently. I have pasted a link below to their cache:

nhs.uk/Conditions/Dystonia/...

.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi I took Effexor a couple of yrs ago and a weird head things and ended up with non epleptic fits. Please be careful . It might not be the drug in your case but I was allergic to it. Maybe go to your GP and discuss your concerns?

It's commonly known as the head zaps if you want to google it. A common ssri withdrawal symptom. It's very unpleasant. You can reduce it by tapering off the drug slowly or sometimes switching temporarily to a ssri with a longer half life like Prozac. They can last a long time after coming off the drug - think I've read up to a year. It's horrible that you're still getting them so long after. It's because of the zaps I refuse to take them now.

I had head zaps just after I first became ill. It was not medicine related because I wasn't on any then. I was told it can be from extreme stress and anxiety.
