My close friend who is 79 always seems to look like a horror story after having a blood test. She bruises very easily in any case but blood tests always seem to leave a major bruise. To be honest though it seems always to be on the inside of her arm up and down but never reaching as far as the elbow. I know whenI was on Warfarin any blood test left me with a huge bruise whereas now if I have a "good one" you can barely see a spot where the needle has gone in. Poor woman.x

So glad to hear she's ok, people of that age should be treated with more respect and care, I used to more as a home care giver an it is very upsetting when u see these things happen xx

I know you hear some horrific stories and see some of the things that can happen on TV it is absolutely appalling. I truly wish a lot off this could be stopped. Also if they are caught doing these things to the helpless then I feel there should be a harder punishment for these people.

I best not get it to this topic as it really makes me so angry 😡.

Hi Jan101 that's Terrible, my dad had the same happen to him, I couldn't believe it when he showed me. The doctor even commented on it but apparently it was something to do with the medication he was on. A week later he knocked his arm & the same thing, his arm looked horrendous.

Yes it is terrible and I think that they should be more careful with the elderly. Due to meds and them being frail. My neighbor is 88 years old and bless her as fit as a fiddle 👍😃

I know & yes you are right. I couldn't believe it when I saw his arm, it was probably a bit worse than your neighbour, bless her. The nurse attempted 3 x to take my dad's blood & just kept missing a vein, it was so awful. They just don't take enough care. My dad's also 88yrs old & normally fit also. The same thing happened when he had a new pace maker fitted, apparently it was slightly bigger than the old one & it was pushed & shoved & squeezed in and the whole of his chest from his neck to his waist was black & blue, I've never seen anything like it in my life. Xx

Since I started taking Warfarin I have had.a lot of bruising on my arms after my blood tests but not as bad as that one.

Bless her it must be quite uncomfortable.

Lets hope next time that someone is a bit more gentle with her.

Hi Hun Warfarin is really bad for making you bruise. She is absolutely fine and oddly enough she had another one done a few days ago by the same nurse and not a mark. Although never quite even close to this extent it's mad how different dr / nurses cause different bleeding & bruising, I usually don't bruise too bad but the one I had last week for my pre operation assessment I looked like a battered banana 🍌 🙈😂

She is absolutely fine Ken. The bizarre thing is she was a nurse all off her life. She had another injection a few days ago by the same nurse and not even a mark. She is a tuff old cookie.😃 Take good care of yourself my friend. 🤗🤗🤗🌹🌷🌸🌺xxxx

I frequently bruise like this following blood tests and when I was on warfarin it was even worse , as bad as it looks It's rarely down to mistreatment , I know it doesn't look nice but sometimes can't be helped .

Fantastic tho that she is doing so well at such a good age sending hugs xx

The funny thing she had another one done by the same nurse a few days ago and she was fine not a mark. Funny how they are both nurses. But honestly she was fine. Take good care 🤗🤗🌹🌷🌸🌺xxx
