Well I attended my PIP appeal today, was in such a state and when I walked in and saw the panel sat behind a big desk I nearly had a meltdown. Was asked questions by the doctor who focused on mobility and the disability expert who focused on the daily living. The female judge was lovely. My partner was given the chance to speak at the end. We were in there around 30 minutes. We were then asked if we would wait in the waiting room, this was around 15 minutes and then called back in. She advised me my appeal had been upheld and I was awarded standard daily living and enhanced mobility. I was absolutely gobsmacked! They were lovely to me at the end and wished me well and the doctor said to try CBT to help with low moods and that it was understandable I get low with my health problems.
I was on cloud 9 but have since realised the DWP can appeal the decision 😥 I didn't realise this so the pessimist in me has now been fretting about that!!! I was put on this planet to worry!
But despite that it's still lovely to know that they believed me and obviously took into account input from my GP and consultant which I don't feel my assessor did. Just need to keep my fingers crossed now that I do actually get it.

I had exact experience! My female judge was lovely. The three people on the panel were all very sympathetic and kind. I had to wait 3 days to learn I had won and been awarded enhanced living and mobility! After the assessor's opinion i had only been given lowest daily living! I didn't expect this! Like you I realised DWP could fight it and because my award had jumped from lowest to highest I thought they would. But I was told this very rarely happens and it all went through smoothly. I even got £2400 back dated. I am still taking it all in! You will be fine and so don't worry. DWP have enough to do without making more trouble for themselves! Congratulations for being brave. How many cannot face a tribunal? X
There's thousands who won't face a tribunal because they are frightened of the thought of facing a panel, especially when they've already gone through a medical etc! I once knew someone who had insider knowledge of PIP when it was first switching over from DLA. They all received an email saying in regards to new claims Deny Deny Deny! The amount of people not appealing that denial is astronomical, they must save a fortune the rotten bastards 😡😡
I agree with you. I am pleased I voiced my opinion of this system at the tribunal as I decided I would not win so I may as well speak my mind. They all nodded in agreement and I got highest award in both care and mobility. I think we should let the tribunal know how devastating this is to people already feeling so dreadful. Its cruel. I said I have never been to court in my life and now I have cancer and RA I find myself in front of a Judge! Ironic!

Thank you all so much for your kind words. It was stressful but definitely worth it. I read loads of great advice on here & also the benefits & work site. I submitted a written statement which definitely helped as when I walked in they said there were a couple of areas that they didn't need to ask me about as I had given detailed explanations in my statement.
Just got the anxious wait now to see if DWP are going to honour the decision and pay me some much needed funds!

I only know what I've seen on TV and read but I'd think the DWP would need firm evidence to appeal against the decision. Film of you running a marathon, working as a roofer, riding a horse. Any appeal they made would have to have a high chance of success to go ahead.

That's brilliant news, my aunt won her appeal from tribunal and dwp did say they was appealing the decision , my poor aunt was so stressed from it all then a few weeks later dwp decided there not appealing after all and she got her money back dated and All's been ok, I've heard a few people say they had same problem with it then suddenly get a letter to say no appeal and everything is sorted, think they do it to cause more stress, hopefully yours will be straight forward, best wishes xx

Well done I am so pleased for you. It is so rare for the DWP to appeal a decision that I would put that thought out of your head. My husband won his tribunal and was awarded 18 points the assessor had originally given him 0 and the DWP didn't appeal. I also thought they were very fair, we had to go through two tribunals as they said they felt they had insufficient evidence the first time around and wanted access to all his medical records. They apologised after they had given the verdict and said he should not have been out through the ordeal and wished him well for the future. X

I had 6 for daily living & the tribunal put me up to 9 & 4 for mobility & was put up to 12. Was so amazed & delighted. Just hope they don't keep me waiting for too long for some money xx
I remember appealing my very first pip claim and although it wasn't successful the lady judge and the 3 others gave me some really good advice to put in a reclaim. She also put more points onto one section ( forget now which one ) and disagreed with the original assessor that I could walk the stated metres it said. So she over ruled that. It wasn't a win situation but did help me sail through my claim 2nd time around 😀
