I had my second session of hydrotherapy today. I don't think the physiotherapist understood what fibromyalgia is. It was evident when he said, And which part of your body hurts. I worked out the whole body. Now I am suffering

Hello Milly, I sympathise. Its not nice when you come across someone who is supposed to be helping you and doesn't know about FM and how they should treat it; much as its not nice being told you don't have it, because then you really doubt yourself.
I hope you manage to get a good nights sleep tonight and there are no repercussions tomorrow. Next time, whatever they say, listen to your body and take things slowly. I got told off for enjoying myself too much and overdoing it! I said ouch they said enough!
Hiya, i found that hydrotherapy didnt work for me, you are right in saying the physio dont understand fibromyalgia and when i said i wasnt completing the course he just shrugged and said "well thats why you are always in pain if you dont do the things we know will help sort you out!!" i wont post what i thought of him x
Hi Milly my husband starts hydrotherapy next week ( i am his carer) and i am concerned about how it is going to affect him afterwards cos everything we tried so far hasnt worked and i dont want it to cause any more pain than what he is already in.
I have only had 2 sessions, the last one was a lot harder. The thing to remember is to take it s-l-o-w-l-y. If the physio in the pool doesnt understand your husbands condition then its up to him to educate. I was worked too hard, plus I had to walk two dogs when I got home. It is so worth doing. But he will feel a bit sore, he should take painkillers after he works out in the water. Try to keep moving.
