Sounds either a trapped nerve or a muscle cramp. I suffer from both, the muscle spasms happen in my back & across the top of both bum cheeks. It then feels bruised & sore for days afterwards. Trapped nerves can last from days to weeks. Try alternating heat & cold.

You leg pain from your back and bottom does certainly sound like sciatica, but I would not hazard a guess to why your arm hurts.

You could look to the related Posts to the right of your post to see if other members have had the same problems, also the Search box, top right.

I think that your doctor will give you the best advice on what it is and how to cope with it.

Hope you get some relief very soon.

Hi paula1967, pain in the butt! sciatica is the main problem with this area. Starting from behind the hip joint and can stay around the Gluteus-Maximus muscle of the buttock or go down the back of the leg to your foot.. Worse when driving a car for long journey's or when it wakes you up in the middle of the night causing havoc with your sleep pattern. Analgesia is the only treatment apart from physiotherapy or acupuncture. Hope this helps. A1Becs was on the right track but any nerve can become trapped, its reading the symptoms that you have gives a better outcome. Best regards Oldman1952.

Hi again paula1967, pain in the arm can be associated with sciatica because all the nerves are inter connected down the spinal chord and it could be that you have had an infection or had trauma to your shoulder. This could be the only way that both muscles hurt at the same time? Oldman1952.

The bum cheek to leg pain sounds like classic sciatica but like others I could not hazard a guess as to the pain in your left arm. Both could be through some pressure on your spine as it is amazing where those little nerve endings radiate to. Hope the doctor can come up with some answers for you. Let us know how you get on.x

Hi paula1967

I am so genuinely sorry to read this and as the others have said it does sound a great deal like Sciatica or possibly Piriformus, which is very similar. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you
