I was advised a few years ago not to have any kind of surgery if I could with FM as the pain would be dare I say here to stay?? They had been researching this for 20 years as part of their day job as a barrister specialising in this area of medical claims.

All I know is that I had an accident as a 10 year old child when I fell of a bike I was learning to drive(lol) and ripped open my right knee with a huge 3 inch gash. I nearly broke my leg as 4 mm from the bone. However, I am now 52 and this scar is a weak point in my tissues that both FM and lupus have had a great time with. Comprende?

Um but here's the thing, there are times when you or I can't avoid surgery, that surgery is necessary, the last resort because 'desease processes' have accelerated destruction of joints such as knees that would be impossible not to replace as a wheelchair is not such an attractive proposition?

You will have been given or should have physiotherapy exercises to do following the op. Do try to do these to speed up the healing process. Most major surgery takes 4-6 months in the initial period and a further possible time of up to a year to heal? It's been 1 month? Early days yet lovey.

Good evening Rstewart May I ask why if you do not suffer with fibro my dear why you joined a fibro forum ?

Maybe you took a wrong turning and ended up here. While it's great to have new people to chat with it really does help us all if they understand what the forum is all about. I am sure you know what I mean. Please have a good evening.

Hi Rstewart

I am so genuinely sorry to read of your problems after surgery, and personally I think it is almost impossible to say how long the pain lasts as we are all different? It may help to ask your doctor for a sick note so you have time to recover and recuperate my friend. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

I did not mean any offence in my earlier post. Take care and I hope you have s good day.
