Hi. Does anyone else have experience of this ? How did you recover?
My first few days were ok just sleepy. I’m so sore and really bruised now though.
I wondered what others experienced. I had my op on 18th

Hi Sorry to hear you are in pain. I had key hole surgery for my cholcystitis so I guess it was not as painful. It will ease off after a couple of days. Try some pain killers. Have u been discharged from hospital? Sorry for the quick reply but laptop is crashing. Hugs xx
Well I think any surgery for people with fibromyalgia is worrying
Hi I had gallbladder surgery and I have fibromyalgia. I was bed ridden for the first 3 days the pain was so bad and it took me weeks to finally be free of the pain. At the time I never linked the pain could be related to also having fibromyalgia but it certainly took me longer than other people had recovered.
I also, due to immobility from gallbladder surgery, got a dvt to complicate matters so once diagnosed I had to get moving to prevent further and I am still on anticoagulants 18 months later :-(.
I hope you heal quickly and try to keep some movement going despite the pain.
Hi Wephy
I had my Gallbladder out on November 20th 2017 and it seemed to take ages to stop having pain and it sometimes hurts even now although not as bad as it was. My friend had hers out and she felt better in a few days so I think the Fibro really does affect the recovery speed.
Hope you feel better very soon xx
Hi, I haven't posted or replied to any comments on here before, but I felt I had to reply to this post! :-). I have had fibro since I was 11 yrs old, I am now 57:-(. I was only diagnosed with fibro about 9 yrs ago however. They couldn't find anything in my bloods when I first started with it all those years ago, but they had to name it something as they could clearly see I was suffering...swollen hands and fingers, unable to walk somedays, crying with pain etc, anyway they named it "rheumatoid syndrome". It's now I realise it was fibro. Sorry to waffle on lol, I too am awaiting gall bladder surgery and I'm really scared. Not of the surgery itself, but how long its going to take to recover. Did you have the keyhole surgery? I can't wait to have it done. The pain from the gall stones on top of the fibro is making me feel 100. Hope youre soon feeling better x
I had my gall bladder removed several years ago by keyhole surgery and recovered ok after a few days obviously there was bruising and discomfort which is to be expected with any surgery. My only problem was I developed an infection in one of the sites which I ended up having further surgery by a plastic surgeon who asked if I was allergic to any metals and stupidly I said no just not thinking and he used metal clips instead of stitches as these leave a nice neat scar but I cannot wear anything that’s not gold or silver in my ears so never even thought about this by the end of 6 days my scar was red so went fraught back to consultant (this was done privately in my now ex husbands BUPA) they took the clips out and I went back home to wake a couple of hours later having problems breathing and my scar just below the ribcage was so huge and distended went to casualty where the two surgeons were debating whether to take me to theatre or not then it burst and I was able to breath again and went back down to theatre. This is just one thing that happened to me because of an allergy. Also what they didn’t tell me at the time was I tested for MRSA and this was from a private hospital. I know many people who have had this surgery and have bounced right back we just take a little longer to recover. My dad now has gall stones but doesn’t appear to be doubled over at night with pain like I was so if I compared it to a before and after I would get the surgery everytime even with the infection because I was in so much pain every single day and I had gone years with the most horrendous indigestion which I rarely get now I still take lansoprazole to keep the acid reflux down but no more pain. So don’t worry too much about it think if the one pain it can take away whereas with fibro we keep being told nothing they can do.
Good luck
Jackie
Hun there is every chance that the surgeon has pushed at muscles to get to your gall bladder, they have to flip the liver over to get at it, you will have some post op pain and it depends how bad the gall bladder was...Have you been given post op pain relief? if not fone gp and ask for some, remind them of other meds you might be taking too... Good luck I,m sure it will calm down,, going under a G.A does affect fibro too..
Thank you. I didn’t realise that. They didn’t give me anything because of the Fibromyalgia meds I have. I’ll give my GP a call. See if he might be able to add anything for a short time.
Thank you very much
I was out of it the first few days. I think HRH could have run across my bed naked and I’d have known nothing about it lol
Thank you so much everyone x
had a terrible time recovering from gallbladder surgery. still feel like someone is squeezing my chest. also have a lump next to one of the scars. my gallbladder was 22" which is rather large. it's been almost six months. anyone having similar problems?
