Hi there

I get given this antibiotic when I have a urine infection.

I think the best thing to do is if you know you have a Vitamin B deficiency that you contact your local pharmacist and have a chat with them.

They should be able to let you know what to do.

Wishing you a peaceful day

Lu xx

PS For the sake of internet safety it is a good idea to get into the habit of locking your posts.

If you still need some help, please don't hesitate to say and I will be very pleased to assist you further.

Hi MrsB yes Ive tried them once!! OMG they blew my head off made me very sick and confused. I cant use trimethoprim either for water work infections and so I have to have cephalexin -an antibiotic if I get UTI. A g.p would only get a "flag up" when prescribing if you are taking a supplement for B deficiency, their computers are programmed to flag up drugs that ineteract .

Hi Mrsb07

I think as BlueMermaid3 says, contact your pharmacist and seek advice on this? It is not a medication that I can personally take. I have pasted an excerpt from the Patient website cache on what you should be aware of:

*Before taking nitrofurantoin

*Some medicines are not suitable for people with certain conditions, and sometimes a medicine can only be used if extra care is taken. For these reasons, before you start taking nitrofurantoin it is important that your doctor knows:

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Although nitrofurantoin can be taken during pregnancy, it is still important that you tell your doctor about being pregnant.

If you have any problems with the way your liver works, or if you have any problems with the way your kidneys work.

If you have sugar diabetes (diabetes mellitus).

If you have been told you have anaemia, or if you have low levels of vitamin B or folic acid.

If you have any breathing problems.

If you have a problem where your nerves cause pain or numbness, called peripheral neuropathy.

If you have been told you have one of the following rare inherited conditions: porphyria or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.

If you are taking any other medicines. This includes any medicines which are available to buy without a prescription, as well as herbal and complementary medicines.

If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
