Hi all... new here. First let me start by saying my health insurance sucks and that's why I have seen a Dr yet. Anyway, everyday I have a constant tightness in my lower back almost in my butt and it's like an achy kind of feeling all the way down my leg. It makes me want to do nothing at all except sit around. It feels immobolizing and I have to say I'm alittlw scared. I don't think it's sciatic cos it's not sharp shooting pains. Just not sure what it is..any thoughts?

In pain and need suggestions
Hi andrealynn721
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted for you below a link to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:
I am so genuinely sorry to read of how you are suffering and struggling and the *coccyx.org website says:
*The piriformis runs over the sciatic nerve, and piriformis syndrome is thought to develop when the muscle becomes tight or spasms and places pressure on the sciatic nerve. This can cause pain in the lower back and/or pain that radiates to the buttocks and down the leg. Pain is often made worse by sitting.
Their suggested treatment for *Piriformis syndrome is:
* Manual, such as stretching or massaging the muscles, or physical therapy
Psychological, learning to release the tension, or combined manual and psychological
Dry needling or injections of corticosteriods or procaine
It could be that you are suffering with this? Or something similar? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Hello and welcome
Thankyou for sharing you will find a wealth of information and support on here. Please do check out information TheAuthor has sent
Good luck on your journey :)
I've had this for years. The pain in the butt and down the leg is dull not sharp. If I stand, or walk my left leg goes numb. MRI showed spinal stenosis, prolapsed discs and nerve impingement, the latter causes sharp pain in my lower back. Neurosurgeon won't do anything as I don't have excruciating pain down my leg. You need to get thus investigated to see what exactly is going on. Good luck.

Welcome to the fibro mad house hun, lots of nice people here to help you. It does sound like a nerve issue, have you got a hot water bottle in your home? Maybe us it on the most affected area-not too hot- or maybe try a TENS machine, can you say whereabouts it starts or hurts the most?
I'd say - firstly, ask you Dr. for Vit,D and Vit B12 blood tests. I'm still travelling down a lengthy road - backwards - simply because - I suspect, some GP's overlook the powerful influence that some vitamins have over our health problems.
Hello and welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can get support, understanding, help and advice.
Have you had a diagnosis of fibro, or are you still waiting to go for tests. I am guessing you are in the US with your insurance issue, it must be very demoralising for you.
I cannot add to the advice given so just to say "hope to see you around the forum"
