Hello HanLea it could be costo-chondritis as that does tend to go hand in hand with fibro. If you type costo-chonditis in the search box, top right, you will see other members experiences.
Another condition which is prevalent this time of year is shingles, which can be extremely painful.
However, I am not medically qualified, so if it is having an impact on your breathing, you have a fever or rash, then you must see your doctor straight away.

Hi HanLea....i am just starting to use oils on the body for fibro pain. I put peppermint oil on my hip last night because I am having terrible pain in my hip every night that keeps me up. My chiropractor said the muscle might be in spasm. I also use for when I have bad shouldwe joint pain and back pain.
Only a temporary solution. Doesnt last all day. Usually have to reapply. But, i got through the night.
Does it actually give you some relief the peppermint oil?
Yes. Helped a lot on my hip, and my shoulders. There are many kinds of oils you can look up for pain relief. I just happen to have that one. I do oils in a diffuser for breathing help at night, eucalyptus, peppermint, frankincense.
Lavender oil on my feet to help relax during sleep.
Castor oil is anti inflammatory, anti oxidant. I put that over my liver every night with rose hip oil. Supposed to help heal the liver. I was doing that because a nurse recommended for healing my liver. (Dr says my liver is fine from a sono, but I think there is a link with exhaustion, tiredness).
I also use cold pressed sesame oil from time to time on my entire body and head. Anti inflammatory, anti fungal, anti bacterial.
I will try anything to feel better. Lol.
Hanlea let me tell you as I can read between the lines that you are suffering with you Fibromygia Any kind of self massage using oils or cream on your affected area will help ease the pain specially before bedtime I carry out self massage every night There is also a gell from the doctors called Fenbid Forte 10 % which is good for short term pain relief I'm not a Docter but Iv had Fibromygia for a long time so over the years Iv worked out a lot of ways to help the pain if you want any more help PM me ok
You are so right Natural self massage using oil or cream can bring relief to Fibromygia
Yes got it as I type mine is costo chondritis which many of us have with fibro. If yours is an entirely new symptom and is getting worse I would have it checked out. You have my sympathy.x
I would say Hanlea that when you have Fibromygia you tend to twist and turn in an awkward way becuase you are trying to avoid pain , In doing so you use other parts of your body that you may not normily use therefore you get pain there to That my opinion
Thankyou I really appreciate it!
Hi HanLea
I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend, and many Fibro sufferers do appear to suffer from Costochondritis, which could be the cause? I have pasted you an excerpt and a link to the *NHS Choices cache on Costochondritis. I your symptoms persist or get any worse it may be prudent to talk to your doctor just to remove other medical conditions from the equation:
*Signs and symptoms
When the costochondral joint becomes inflamed it can result in sharp chest pain and tenderness, which may develop gradually or start suddenly.
The pain may be made worse by:
a particular posture – such as lying down
pressure on your chest – such as wearing a seatbelt or hugging someone
deep breathing, coughing and sneezing
physical activity
