I have had a long day, first appointment at a new Pain Clinic. It looks pretty hopeful, the team contains a person who does acupuncture but also psychologists If one should dare tell me my pain is all in my head I will scream!
Sorry to hear you are to bed early, although sometimes it is the best place to be.
Fingers crossed you have a great doctor who will take over your care with kindness and compassion. After all, it is not too much to ask for is it?
Ah yes the dreaded it's all in your head so you should listen to whale music line!! π I hate that! What's the acupuncture like I've heard a few people using it!
Fingers crossed, but as I'm sure you know it's a rare thing, they just want to get you out asap and so chuck more drugs at you; think the tablets are half the problem xxx
I think people can confuse the concept of pain being linked to the brain and being told 'its all in your head' . I have chronic pain but I am aware that how I feel about my pain and how well I can manage my thoughts and feelings about it will have a bearing on how bad it gets or how well I cope with it. I have often experienced being in significant pain and being absorbed in something ( usually being with someone I care about ) and the pain going onto the back burner and not being felt so much for a while. There have been lots of studies on attention and pain where subjects involved in a complex cognitive task didn't experience the pain from heat to anything like the level that they did when not engaged in anything.
I think science has a lot to yet discover about the link between the functions in the brain and pain control. I just wish they would hurry up and find a solution. Meanwhile I know that if I let my pain overcome me and overwhelm me then it usually gets a lot worse.
The pain 'signals' that are received and transmitted by the brain are not always related to the pain that the body is actually experiencing.
Hi DanielleGemma sorry your off to bed so early. I managed till 7.30 so not far behind you lol..I hope you get really nice, supportive GP my friend, I'll keep everything crossed for you xx
Hi there Danielle. Can't tag names either haha. I'm in the same boat as you pretty much. Luckily my surgery has kept me on even tho they are not in my area. Worth the travel tho. Hard to find a doctor that understands.
