Hi all I'm new to all of this but anyhow I have had pain in my right hip and leg for nearly 3 weeks now I find it worse when I'm sleeping as the pain is so sore I can't even turn or move without the pain shooting through to my leg, i find it better for me when I am up walking around but as soon as I sleep the pain is back. I've been to my GP and all they could give me was painkillers which don't work so now I'm thinking about going to hospital as I am so depressed and being unable to do things with my children is killing me please if you have some answers that would be great๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi Lulubellez

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted for you below a link to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:

fmauk.org/

I have pasted two excerpts for two possibilities below, the first is relating to leg cramps, and the second is Sciatica:

*WebMD

*A muscle cramp is also called a charley horse. Nighttime leg cramps are usually sudden spasms, or tightening, of muscles in the calf. The muscle cramps can sometimes happen in the thigh or the foot. They often occur just as you are falling asleep or waking up.

**NHS Choices

**Sciatica is the name given to any sort of pain caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve.

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in your body. It runs from the back of your pelvis, through your buttocks, and all the way down both legs, ending at your feet.

The pain of sciatica is usually felt in the buttocks and legs.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Good luck my friend.

Morning Fibrolife welcome to our friendly helpful forum see you've met our Ken and he is very very helpful along with other admin peeps - Bluemermaid- Janet to name just a few

You can rest assured everyone will try to help you through this - you will have a laugh - you will cry at some posts too - you will thank your lucky stars that you aren't as bad as some peeps on here are - I know I do. Get ready for the welcomes from everyone.

Sorry to hear about what is happening to you but your best bet is to go and see your GP not necessarily the same one if you aren't happy seeing the one you saw again as they are best placed to arrange tests like bloods - X-rays etc - I've got what you are experiencing this morning in my right side but I also get it from time to time in my left - I reckon - for me anyway - it's what I've done the day before or how I've been sitting - also how I've been lying/sleeping in bed especially if I've been on either side of body for a while - but I've also got arthritis along with Fibro - amongst other ailments plus I'm of an age where these things happen to your body.

Wish you all the best take care. ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

Sounds like sciatica to me which is extremely painful. I found going to hydrotherapy at my local hospital a great help, the warm water is lovely and exercise is much easier. Perhaps ask your GP about a referral to Physiotherapy who will be able to recommend this. There is a huge muscle in the buttock which affects sciatica, sorry I cannot remember the name of it and exercising in the pool strengthens this muscle.

Just remembered the muscle involved in sciatica is the Piriformis !!
