Hello Mrsb07

What makes you think you may not have fibro? It is difficult to say that all fibro sufferers suffer the same symptoms all the time, as I have noticed over the years that we are all different.

Before your diagnosis did you have tests to rule out any other conditions? Fibro mimics so many other illnesses and these should have been eliminated before reaching a fibro diagnosis. Also Fibro can sometimes be linked to hypothyroidism, IBS, and other factors.

I suggest you go back to your doctors and ask for a referral to a rheumatologist to put your mind at rest.

Good Luck!

X

It is normal to go times with little or no pain, fibro does that.

It is very confusing, but totally something fibro does.

I'm sorry your in such a confusing place right now.

Yes, but it isn't the same pain/muscle everyday. When I get one muscle under control another starts screaming at me.

In the beginning my pain wasn't like this though. It was very mild and ignorable till bed time. And through the years the pain spread and became stronger.

I understand if you wanna double check before coming to terms with fibro, but don't think you don't have fibro because you are different than people here.

Fibro is crazy, it acts and affects people differently. I have many many times doubted my fibro diagnosis. The thought still occasionally pops into my head, as I am different than so many people here or it feels that way at times, but nothing else makes sense. I have to remind myself that fibro is just that different for us all.

Be you and search till your hearts desire, look out at the world of disorders and diseases and see if something else fits. I have tried and I always come back to fibro.

Good luck, I hope you find some solid ground soon.

Take care××

I totally understand where you're coming from and I question my diagnosis too. There are so many people on this forum worse off than me that i have to ask is it Fibro? But it seems that is effects everyone differently. I am in pain randomly, some days worse than others, some days i can cycle 20 miles, some days i don't feel like it but have the mental fortitude to get out and ride, other days i lie in bed or sit on the sofa with painkillers and a hot water bottle! I saw an orthopaedic surgeon today who wants me referred to rheumatology and an mri scan. More tests but hopefully more diffinitive answers too. Go back to your doc and ask for referrals for more specific tests.

Firstly you already have a lot of advice. I am amazed at how diverse symptoms can be. I no longer get many "episodes" after over 20 years but the symptoms change. Also as you get older you have other issues making you tired such as heart related issues. I check my blood pressure when I get exhausted and sometimes it is very very low. So that is the culprit. Also you can have genuine muscle pain. Mine is a worn out disc but it can be anything such as the way you sit.

So if your pain in in a different place or if it is in recession and you feel you don't have fibro, check your pressure points and I will bet they are still sore if you put pressure on them..

What happened to me lately is I took Organic Magnesium excel tablets. All my pain disappeared except in two places. It got rid of overall muscle pain. It left me with a very hard muscle coming from my bad disc and pain around my waist. This is my fibro pain and it is close to the hard muscle. I have found a specific cause and that is in my leg joint that controls a set of ligaments and tissue in the legs. This has caused the fairly new (5 years) nerve pain in my thigh and now in my feet. It is like many electric shocks. It used to feel like someone rubbing dry ice on my leg and it happened if I walked more than 10 minutes. It was unbearable at times. Now I can get the nerve pain at any time and anywhere. The physio said to leave it alone, physiotherapy will make it worse, and to continue with hydrotherapy which is the best exercise.

So every pain is different and mine has changed over the years. From all over pain and don't touch me!! During better times you wonder if it has gone away as my friend did for a while and has now been diagnosed by a specialist. So we often have reasons to doubt whether we have it at all or if it is something else. That is the nature of fibromyalgia. We all suffer differently. Today I cant feel much pain in my chest when touched lightly which is my first reminder of my condition. Tomorrow I will feel it and be reminded of my condition The other reminder is my everyday back pain. I take pain killers and walk around as much as I can. Worse in mornings.. I treat my muscle pain differently with physio cream and massage and for good measure I also rub it on my fibro areas.

We have all learnt to manage our own pain and then think it has gone away. It is BECAUSE WE ARE MANAGING IT that we feel better.

I would recommend sufferers try deep needle therapy by a specialist who does only this treatment. Unfortunately my doctor who was also a physio was the first person to bring it to my state. He died many years ago. I have said before I was out of pain for weeks. Today's physios also use it but are quite conservative and I don't find it works on me. Some physios will give you the " tens like" machine and cover you with a hot towel. This has been good in the past. However, it is a bit old fashioned and most physios now deal with sports injuries and they are not the ones to choose in my opinion. Find an older physio with no fancy exercise equipment.

We all learn from each other. Never think you don't have it in good times and don't plan to climb a mountain in good times. It will appear again when you least expect it to. Even "episodes" that you thought had gone will come back when you least expect it.

Good luck all..

Hi Mrsb07 , I don't gave physical pain every day but there are others that I'm sure do.Take care

Apparently mrs b we are all different I think I am the same as you but when you read other peeps posts they are really bad with it - so I think it could be different stages of how the blighter ( better word than I was thinking of putting) 😂manifests itself. So if you've been told you've got Fibro then you probably have but not as bad as others. Take care hun. 😘🤗

Hi Mrsb07

I can genuinely understand why you would question your diagnosis with such intermittent symptoms, but I think Fibro is never the same for ant two people? We all have different pain in differing degrees and at differing times. If you have any doubts, I would talk to your doctor about what you are experiencing. It may help to keep a diary to show them? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I am in constant pain but in varying degrees bearable to unbearable. It's the randomness of the pains that gets me, and the lack of sleep. But I think everyone is different just make sure your diagnoses is explored thoroughly xxx

Hi I'm in violent pain every day ,back, grion and thighs have been for months now but I do have a trapped nerve in my back at the Mo to add to my many ailments I know we are all different take cart Jo x

Hello joed. How does your pain travel? Does it begin in low back, go to one hip/bursa side before shooting around to the others side and then, drop down the front of your thighs. Is it predictable in its unpredictableness? Does it help to lay down? Does brushing your teeth or washing your hands make you crazy with pain. Violent pain...yes, it is violent. I can't tolerate it anymore. I've become even more sensitive of late. It is almost like back labor. The radiologist said that my most recent MRI shows that a herniated disc's goo possibly stimulating a nerve. Whatever! I know something is wrong. Therefore if this sounds familiar, I only advice I have is "do not bend over----ever." I wish you well. ~Chickapea~

Hello Joed,

You might want to look at my newer post "oldsouls." You could try the high dose organic magnesium. It may identify or isolate your fibro pain and help with the other pain you are experiencing. Sometimes other pain can be caused by something different. Either way you should get relief.

The joint I refer to is just an inch from the groin so it may be the same spot I refer to.

Good luck

I'm in pain everyday, worse when I wake up. The cold makes it worse too. I also suffer with constant heavy fatigue amongst other symptoms. I've had fibro since I was 14yrs old, diagnosed at 21 & im now 35.

I had never heard of fibromyalgia when I was diagnosed. 20 years ago. I had probably had it for many years. I take a cocktail of painkillers etc. I still have pain but mostly I can deal with it.

I could do with stronger but where do you draw the line? You can't keep getting more and more meds. I don't stay in bed ever. I have my sofa if I can't do much. There are loads of aids you can get to keep you comfortable. Staying in bed just depresses people.

Hi. Actually today I am having an almost pain free day. I truly cannot recall the last time I felt so good. I went to my aqua class as usual today and managed (carefully) to do all the exercises. I felt really good at the end of the class.

I feel as though I want to do something, sadly it's raining or I may have done a little weeding. I have instead tidied and cleaned my bedroom.

So the answer to your query is YES occasionally you can have a pain fee day with fibromyalgia.

Make the most of any days you do get as it wont last.xx

Heltadelta.
