Hi there

Provided that the same GP surgery has prescribed all these medications for you, then in that case they should be safe to take together.

All the medications that have been prescribed for you will be on your notes.

Has the Cocodamol been prescribed for you or do you buy it over the counter?

Just for some added reassurance give your surgery a call and ask them the same question.

I do however have to point out that none of us on the forum are medical professionals and we can only advise you to a certain extent.

Asking your GP is the best thing you can do.

Wishing you much peace

Lu xx

Make an appointment to speak to a pharmacist or go when they are quiet. They know more about drug interactions than doctors imho. Generally GP's don't have, or take, the time to consider drug combinations and the like. There are a lot of things to take into account with each pill e.g. with/out food, time of day, with other medications or not etc..

Good luck.

Hello BLANCHE5 and welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can get support, advice, information and help.

Have you seen our Mother Site fmauk.org ? Here you will find a wealth of information about fibro, including guides and links.

You have not said if you have been definitely diagnosed with fibro or if you have other conditions. Your doctor should be aware of anything that you as an older person cannnot take. However, I have just Googled Fencino and it does say that the elderly should be prescribed this with caution and started with a low dosage.

Have a thorough read of the leaflet that comes with your medication, and if you are unsure

or are unhappy about this, then let your GP know, even if it is to leave a message. You could also talk to your pharmacist as they will know more about interactions and side effects.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

Welcome to the forum. As BlueMermaid3 says we are not medically qualified so we are only speaking from our own experiencees but nevertheless trying to help.

My old GP's computerised records used to flag up an alert if he went to prescribe a medication which clashed with any I was already on. He would then look up alternatives to see whether he could find one that was fine. As Hidden says I have always found that a pharmacist has more knowledge about possible interactions of medications and that is why you are always better having your prescription made up at the same place as they often have all your medication records on file, I know my last very thorough pharmacist did.

Like the others I was wondering whether the GP has prescribed the Co-codamal as I know the lowest strength is available over the chemists counter without a prescription. I also know that some medication strengths have to be reduced the older or younger you are as the body does not tolerate the strength so well. If you are at all worried I would have a word with either the pharmacist or the GP before going ahead and taking the combination. Sometimes if all other things have failed and you are in alot of pain they will prescribe a combination that perhaps brings up an Amber warning but they will usually then start at the lowest dose and carefully monitor them. Best of luck with it and do let us know how you get on.x

Am I supposed to answerer that question. Is it safe at any age. It is best for you to get some more professional advice I think, if you are worried. Another opinion. xx

Hi BLANCHE5

That is a very interesting question as Fencino 25 is a fentanyl patch and is made of an opioid just like Cocodamol. I would simply ask your pharmacist if they are compatible and see what they say? (I have pasted you a link below to a NHS pdf file on these types of medication):

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck my friend, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi to everyone. I have been on a certain sleeping TABLET since 1991. For the last 6 month I have different types WITH SAME NAME with no effect or very little sleep. I have lousy on these as you all know. Now I have noticed that the enclosed leaflet is completely different to my normal one. I asked my doctor who is brilliant to NAME OF MEDS +NAME OF THE ONES THAT ARE SUITED AND the word HELPS YOU IS MPORTANT. Try for few weeks or month and see if they help. If they help you make sure that you get the MEDS suited to you. The make sure your doctor THEN alters your prescription to read MEDS + NAME on the box ONLY. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT WIT ALL MEDS . THE MEDICINE WHICH YOU ALL TAKE WITH SAME NAME IS NOT THE SAME ONE GIVEN FROM CHEMIST. I am sorry for this letter, but I Have only found out last month. I really want you all to feel better.

Hi Dorothee thank you so much for highlighting this issue, as quite often generic medications are made slightly differently or contain differing ingredients and then they may not be compatible with our other medications. It is always best to get these things checked out.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Thank you for your reply. It,s indeed so that it appears to me that people on these posts get pain relief from one named and others do not. One tablet with same named tablet are not the same. They are different make up. I don,t know how to explain this any differently. To early in the morning. .this has happened to me with my sleeping tablets over last 6 month. I think unless stated on prescriptions what suits us you will like me be given any old tablet named exactly the same name from chemist everywhere. ??? The chemist will always Make sure that meds meds are safe together.
