Hi, I have just been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have all the usual symptoms and I am so glad I found this site with all the other ladies with the same problem. I find the spasms make me jump in bed and sleeping has become impossible. I was told it was not progressive. Mine started two days after having an angiogram that had a few problems. I will keep up with the site as it is good to know I am not alone in this nightmare.

Hello and welcome to our friendly fibro site where you can get advice, support, help and information with a chuckle or two to brighten the day.
Have you seen our Mother Site fmauk.org ?
Here you will find everything fibro including links and guides.
If you look to your right in blue you will see Pinned Posts which will help you to get the most out of this site and includes instructions on locking your posts for your internet security.
I am glad you are sticking with us but must correct you on the gender side. It is true that more ladies seem to have fibro than men but we do have quite a few men who post regularly and give a different insight into their coping with fibro.
Looking forward to seeing you "chatting" around the forum.
Best Wishes
Kay
Hello annette64
Welcome to the forum I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but very glad that you have found us.
If you take a look at our website you will find lots of information about Fibromyalgia on there fmauk.org
Lack of restorative sleep is one of the main causes of Fibromyalgia rather than a symptom.
My personal advice to you would be to learn as much as you possibly can about Fibromyalgia and how it affects you.
We all suffer to varying degrees and many of us have lots of other conditions to deal with as well. I think it is important to be able to manage our symptoms as best we can and find out what type of things work for us.
The problem with Fibromyalgia is that there is no one size fits all help and so that's why it's a good idea to try to understand how your Fibro is affecting you.
If you need any help at all navigating the forum, let me know and I will be more than happy to help you.
As bluebell99 has said, we are not an all female group, in fact our Head of Admin is a male!
Statistically more women than men are diagnosed with Fibromyalgia - just as a note of interest
Wishing you much peace

Hi annette64 and welcome to our wonderful forum ☺ I'm sure you will come to find the forum invaluable in chatting to others who are going through the same experience as you, talking to others at different stages of their lives with Fibro and learning from their experiences.
It does help with the whole process and I wish I had found the site years ago. I have had Fibro for nearly 30 yrs and I'm still learning about it as we all are.
I find it interesting that you associate having an Angiogram with Fibromyalgia, I have not heard of this connection before. Does your GP think there is some connection ?. I look forward to chatting to you on the forum.
Peace, luv n light
Jan ☺
