Night sweats?

Is it just me or does anybody else wake up burning up and sweating for no good reason? I'm generally always cold due to my under active thyroid but after I wake from a few hrs sleep I am sweating. Sometimes drenched for no good reason. Its almost like clockwork. I will remove covers off top half if hot and one leg in and other out. But still sweat buckets. Its embarrassing! ๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ˜ถ even though my gorgeous loving other half says he really doesn't care. Love be him soooo much....he's my rock! And he has extreme sciatica (only an op will work now) and barely sleeps at all and is in pain all the time, probably worse than me but he just cracks on. He's amazing! ๐Ÿ˜

Sorry hope u all had sick buckets for that! If not I'll pay for the cleaning bill. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Hi Scraggles

I am so genuinely sorry to read this and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to this issue. There is a medical condition that many Fibro sufferers endure called 'Hyperhidrosis,' and I have pasted you an excerpt and a link to the *NHS Choices cache on this issue:

*Hyperhidrosis is a common condition in which a person sweats excessively.

The sweating may affect the whole of your body, or it may only affect certain areas. Commonly affected areas include the:

armpits

palms of your hands

soles of your feet

face and chest

groin

Both sides of the body are usually affected equally โ€“ for example, both feet or both hands.

The sweating doesn't usually pose a serious threat to your health, but it can be embarrassing and distressing. It can also have a negative impact on your quality of life and may lead to feelings of depression and anxiety.

I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hiya no you're not the only one. I get it a lot too. My body temperature is a nightmare xx

If you are on Meds it could be a side effect.

i have night sweats. i can change clothes two or three times during the night. the clothes i slept in are so wet that i can't even throw them into the hamper. they have to be separated from normal dirty clothes to be washed. i feel drained if i've had a really bad night. occassionally will have same problem during the daytime but it's rare. i have a girlfriend who sweats so terribly during the day she has the back of her hair cut very short so won't get as wet. she is in her early 40's so awful for her. i've tried all those expensive sleep ware that "wick". never helped me. anyone found anything that helps?

I have RA and almost constantly suffer from sweats during night and frequently during day as well, 2 years since i even tried getting in a bed, im on the bed but with just a light throw, i have no heating on and windows open. I put mine down to side effects of meds and when i was on MTX and biologics it was just tidiculous. Condition is worse when i pick up any kind of infection. Consuitant just shrugs and points to side effects. This did happen to me when i was "normal" and ate even slightly spiced food and it was too embarrassing to eat anything more than s mild chilli or anything similar when iut so maybe i was sensitive to it happening anyway.

I get severe hot flushes in the night because i am peri-menopausal. They bring me round frequently, so i am throwing duvet off etc and disturbing sleep. However amitriptyline stops me from coming roundcompletely. For hot flushes though have found sleeping with a cold "hot"water bottle (from fridge) on top my chest keeps it at bay. I am able to sleep lot more comfortably through night under duvet then. Dont know if that trick would help you.

Hi there

Yes! I get night sweats. It's not every night and completely random.

Some times I wake up soaked through.

The strange thing is that it is only the top half of me that gets affected.

Some nights I have to change twice and other nights it doesn't happen at all.

I have seen many people post about this over the years so my personal opinion is that it could quite possibly be a Fibromyalgia symptom.

If the night sweats are severe this could be something else. I was having them before fibro, along with achy bones extreme fatigue infact all the symptoms of fibro but exaggerated and with terrible weight lose. Went for xray and low and behold dark patch on right lung. Was sent within 24 hours (after 3yrs of these symptoms and ending up 6 stones. I demanded an xray). Had to have a lung wash and then 6-8 week for the cultures to grow. Up till then I had 2 diagnosis it was either cancer or TB. I had the wash on new years eve 2014 waited 5 weeks and got a letter it was TB.

It seems that TB has caused the fibro-mialgia and possibly arthritis most gp's don't think of TB. I was in a high risk job and had never been ill until I went 5 years ago with chest infection. From then on things just kept getting worse but gp virtually said I was hypochondriac. My manager was a Nurse and it was her that made me keep going back. The last time I was lucky I got a locum doctor, as soon as he weighed me he knew I was seriously ill, but it was still 10 months before I got an xray I could barely walk with the fatigue by then and lost my job. Once diagnosed I got the right treatment and 18 months ago I got the all clear, I am now riddled with arthritis and fibro, GORD and migrains and still doctors ignore anything I say.

I wish you well but this is also a warning you have to look after your own health get everything checked some symptoms can be for a different problem.

Kind regards

Syl
