I don't know what it is but my little fingers feel like they have been scalded, the stinging pain is really bad.
I have arthritis in my hands and my fingers are getting knobbly so I expect aching from them but not this awful scalding pain.
Do you have pain in your other index finger? Do you do a lot of writing as I am wondering if it is repetitive strain. If it continues then I am afraid it is to the doctors you go!
Perhaps I need to take my own advice!

hi kay, no I don't write much its just something I have notice over the past month filling paper work in, I have been having trouble with both hands and fingers they are bending and feel very stiff my index finger nail is bending dr said to cut nail and then u wont see it but you still can. I was reading with my son today and used my finger to keep his place and the pain still is unreal it kills even now I'm using my thumbs to type thank you
Hi louisew
Yes! Yet another symptom I suffer with. My fingers sometimes feel as though they are actually broken and the pain is quite severe.
I have been wondering for a while whether I may have arthritis in my hands.
I used to be able to peel veg, open bottles etc. Now I can't do any of them. I can write about one sentence and that's it.
I have propped my laptop up as I touch type, which having done this since I was about 14, I find it quite difficult to type on flat surfaces too.
I have to wear gloves in the winter to stop my hands getting too cold.
I am sorry that I don't have any answers.
Lu xx
I know i have arthralgia and deformities from years of ankylosing spondilitis my fingers ache a lot and I have some lycra type fingerless gloves give to me by rheumo doc plus splints for thumbs they do help with pain
snap, yes just how you described it thank you
Hi louisew, My fingernails are so painful, if i touch them they just bend and break. I used to have lovely long nails, never bitten them and went mad if i broke them. looking at them now you would think i chewed them they are so short( they are to me) disgusting sight to look at. they have been like it since taking gabapentin. Hope all gets better for you soon x
My finger nails bend and snap if I let them grow,I was told to eat raw jelly, not sure if that's old wives tale!! My toes have had nails removed coz of in growing,,,bad footwear!!!!
Yes! Cubes of uncooked jelly are very good for nails and hair xx

There's a section on the NHS choices website about nail abnormalities and what causes them. I'm not sure if it applies if only one finger nail is affected but it might be worth a look.
Hi my friend
I really am so genuinely sorry to read this and I have pasted a link for you below to the NHS Choices cache entitled: Nail Abnormalities:
nhs.uk/conditions/nail-abno...
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you

oh yes, lots of finger pain. plus have clubbed fingers which is awful. most of my fingers are bending which makes typing more difficult. oh fibro...please could you give us options?
My fingers swell up like sausages sometimes and at other times the skin feels really tight though they look ok
I've got bony lumps on my index fingers that get incredibly painful sometimes - usually as the rest of me feels worst.
Find they sometimes get worse when using the computer..
But on rare occasions they feel absolutely ok and behave beautifully.....I find its making the most of the respite times that helps me carry on..as with the rest of the symptoms...
