Hi Teg.....Difficult one this as we all react differently to our meds.....I can only speak for myself and I take 50 or 75mg at night of Amitriptyline BUT that is with my GP's blessing. I wouldn't suggest you up your dose unless you speak to your GP first....Hope you get sorted very soon, but I think with fibro a good nights sleep is something we all wish for.x

Are well Teg that is a little different to me...I am retired so if I don't get up in the morning nobody is affected. If you do up your dose I think you will find that it will take time to get used to (not long, maybe a week or two) before you don't feel fuzzy. Be especially careful though if you drive them to school!! Take care and gentle hugs to you xxxx

Hi

I take 50mg a night and have been told I can raise it to 60mg. I tried this when the pain was bad and had a terrible night with hallucinations, so sticking to 50mg.

I would take your doctor's advice about dosage.

If you take them about 7 pm you should not feel so drowsy in the morning.

Hi there

What time do you take your Amitryptyline ?

If you take it around 6pm you should find that you don't get any grogginess the next morning.

Hi Teg13

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are having sleeping issues, and as the others have said sadly, we all react differently to medications so it is impossible to say what could work for you? Have you tried something like 'Nytol' that you can buy over the counter from your pharmacist? They are for short term use only but may be worth a try?

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

I found that 10mg Amyttipaline made me feel groggy next day so I rarely took it however after it became almost the norm being up all night in pain my GP prescribed liquid morphine (oramorph). I was really against this as I worried about addiction but eventually I gave in and took just one 5ml spoonful before bed and 95% of the time it worked. I still tried not to take it but when you get a good nights sleep you feel so much better the next day so it's worth a try but please keep it out of reach of the kids.

Good luck 😊

I wonder if your g.p advised you to take your amitrip around tea time so that when you go to bed it has kicked in? I can,t stand those pills I woke with an horrendous headache! I have zopiclone 3.75 and I take half of one AFTER I,ve had a couple of bad nightss o as not to get addicted or dependant-maybe your g.p will allow tou to try some? BUT get good advise on taking the amitrip as well!!!
