Hi Angeldebs33
The basic rates are the same but there are a few subtle differences in there. I have pasted the rates for both *ESA and **Income Support below:
*ESA Rates:
2. What you'll get
*You can get financial support and work-related support through Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
Financial support
You’ll normally get the assessment rate for 13 weeks after your claim. This will be:
up to £57.90 a week if you’re aged under 25
up to £73.10 a week if you’re aged 25 or over
After that, if you’re entitled to ESA, you’ll be placed in one of 2 groups and will receive:
up to £102.15 a week if you’re in the work-related activity group
up to £109.30 a week if you’re in the support group
If you’re in the support group and on income-related ESA, you’re also entitled to the enhanced disability premium at £15.75 a week.
You may also qualify for the severe disability premium at £61.85 per week.
**Income Support Rates:
**2. What you'll get
You get:
a basic payment (personal allowance)
extra payments (premiums)
Your income and any savings (over £5,999) can affect how much you get.
Personal allowance
You must be at least 16 to get Income Support.
Status Age Weekly payment
Single 16 to 24 £57.90
Single 25 or over £73.10
Lone parent 16 to 17 £57.90
Lone parent 18 or over £73.10
Couples Both under 18 £57.90
Couples Both under 18 - ‘higher rate’ £87.50
Couples One under 18, the other 18 to 24 £57.90
Couples One under 18, the other 25 or over £73.10
Couples One under 18, one over - ‘higher rate’ £114.85
Couples Both 18 or over £114.85
Higher rate
You could get the higher rate if either of you is responsible for a child, or if each of you would be eligible for one of the following if you weren’t a couple:
Employment and Support Allowance
Income Support
Jobseeker’s Allowance
Premiums
You could also get an Income Support ‘premium’ - this is extra money based on your circumstances, for example if:
your partner is a pensioner
you’re disabled or a carer
I get £218 every fortnight and am on esa support because of fibromyalgia .
I am a carer to my son too, but they wouldn't tell you if your better on esa I get help with my mortgage so I get £45 a week I am lone parent with 2 children
Thanks that's a lot more than I get on is which I am only allowed because I'm carer for my disabled son also x
They said I'm better O'Doewy esa help with your mortgage like is?
I only get £110 a fortnight because they deduct carers allowance
Sorry key pad keeps covering message box and auto correct spells something ridiculous when I hit send.
Sadly, any benefit that is taxable will have other benefits that are also taxable taken into account when you try and claim them. There was an interesting documentary on TV the other night whereby people were having their housing benefit cut due to the cap on benefits that has come into force. Then they get money docked for taxable benefit and they soon fall into serious arrears with their rent.
Good luck my friend
Ken x
I think if it is or isnt that income supoirt is stopping anyway.
Esa back to work is jobseekers
ESA support is when you are unable to work .
PIP is for those who are severely disabled unable to work or care for them selves.
Because of fibromyalgia, I'm on esa support as I am unable to work, but have too much mobility to go for pip.
Well I can't work but my soon is autistic but if I was able I could the help pay some of my mortgage but I only get £25 a week because of this they said it's better this way and get carers?
