Here is the giraffe pic I promised you a few days ago and so sorry it went clean out of my mind but here it is now.

We followed this car around West Midland Safari Park for a while. They Had a packet of food in the car and the giraffe kept popping his head in through the sunroof for a little nibble. He too followed the car quite a way around the enclosure..

Hope you get to go to a zoo soon.I really love this place as its a 4 mile journey around the park so you get to see loads of animals and not in cages either.

I use my scooter around the rest of the park as other animals to see and also food places.Disabled folk get in free and your carer pays £20,you also get a free return ticket for another trip so really good value.Dont know where you live or if this is within travelling distance for you, but I love the place.

Not sure of opening times during winter months but a definite yes for warmer weather.

Hope you ok .

Take care.

I have another picture of them feeding a zebra at each window.I will post it tomorrow as its only one pic per day. These animals at this park are tremendous it's almost like a production line waiting for the cars to pass.

Feeding is mandatory as far as they are concerned,If you don't offer them something to eat they just move on to the next car.

Cupboard love at its best.........

If you were going to drive there I think the quickest route would be along M4 and up M5 - not the shortest route but probably the quickest but not sure which side of Cardiff you would be coming from.

Hope you manage the trip,I don't think you would be disappointed. If you don't see all the animals on your first trip, round the safari park you can drive round again and again .It usually takes us about hour and a half by the time we have fed some and taken photos etc.

Take care Hidden

No probs- glad you liked it.

I like zoos but think these are so much nicer for the animals they have more freedom.

What is strange is that a preserved railway runs a little way from the safari park so you see elephants from the train.--- lovely.

Take care,stay well Cathy777

Hi peck I have also wanted to go on a safari to Africa but I don't think that's going to happen now with being the way I am.

My cousin was a vet in Zambia some years back and gave me the chance to live out there with them for a couple of months. I was well up for it but mum wasn't keen at all and blocked it. Having said that it was coming up to O level time so it was an important time for me but U couldn't see that at the time. But I still want to do it.

Take care,hope you ok.

Oh Crusee that's fantastic, I do love giraffes, stunningly beautiful animal. we have a zoo close by & we go quite often in the summer as they also have deals, carers go free etc. I always head for the giraffes, they have a lovely large field to run around it & i love to see then run. We had a baby one the year before last, so cute.

Thanx for sharing

What a great picture, they are such gorgeous animals with lovely soft expressions. We have Marwell Zoo near us and that is a lovely summer's day out.

I would like to try your park but it is a fair way away from us so will probably need to do it over a weekend stay, in the summer of course!

Thank you for posting that.

Glad you liked it.

West Midland Park is approx 70 miles from us so do-able for a day out,but it is well worth the trip.

Giraffes are gorgeous creatures - never see a temperamental one, unlike camels who are always grumpy beggars.

Take care.

I do hope they weren't feeding the giraffe

Crusee profile image
Crusee in reply to deejames

Yes they were .There were packets of special animal food you could buy at the gate to enter the park.

It was suitable for all the animals in that part of the park like the giraffes ,deer, zebras etc.

It was quite safe to give them that food but nothing else.

I love giraffes, they really are the most elegant creatures. I can feel a visit to West Midlands Safari Park beckoning!

Are there giraffes at Knowsley Safari Park? (it's a bit closer to where I live)

Crusee profile image
Crusee in reply to maggi999

Hi maggi999

Yes they really are such beautiful, graceful creatures.I often think that a big gust of wind could blow them over they look so fragile.

I haven't been to Knowsley Park,we were going to go this year but didn't get there for whatever reason but I believe they have giraffes there too.I looked online for info when we were planning a trip and they had included info in giraffes on there then.It might be worth checking if you decide to go to avoid disappointment.

Hope you enjoy the trip.

Take care.

Hey there Crusee,

Sorry for the delay in reply. Been offline for a few days. Having a flare. And come back to messages to reply too. But this picture is my 1st response.

Thank you very much for posting. I also forgot. Hehe. It's a lovely photo, they are incredible! I found a park nearer us that we plan to get to at some point. But if I am ever West Midlands way I will definitely go here! I can see many other Giraffes in the background too!

Hope you are well as can be also?

Hope you are feeling better today Clumsy_Mrs

I am ok,got an infection but got antibiotics so hopefully be back in business in a couple of days.

There were about a dozen giraffes that we could see in the this part of the park but could have been more .There were giraffes, bison, rhino, zebras and a few other types of animals in this part all mingling about happily together it was so nice to see.

Glad you found a park closer to your home,at least you may be able to get trip organised.

Just going to put the pic of the zebras on in a tick.

Have a good day and I hope that flare calms down soon.

Take care

I am alot better then yesterday, (I actually have the energy to reply) but still feel like poo! All because we went into town to buy a winter coat, and I was in the wheelchair, whole time! It's ridiculous! Got a nice coat though! Lol.

I have been to a Zoo, where they have Giraffes inclosed and got a few picture, but theses are great because they can roam!

Look forward to seeing the Zebra picture, there markings are beauitful also!

I hope your infection clears up quick! Random question, does your doctor ask you have the flu jab? I got asked to make an appointment on my prescription note.

Glad you're on the mend. The trouble with having a trip, out us you suffer for a few days after. We had a few days in Jersey at the start of October and it took me a good week to get over it I could have slept for Britain!

I prefer the park to the zoos as they are allowed more freedom than kept in a cage or pen - it's more natural .

On the flu jab I have had them for a few years now,and I have had one this year.My surgery always used to write to me to tell me when the flu jabs were available and to make an appointment, but last year they posted a notice in the surgery to say that they would no longer be writing to us that it was outperform responsibility to get one arranged.

As I am in the surgery every week fir an INR test anyway the nurse said shall Imdo your flu jab when you're in next week so I had it done a couple of weeks ago.

Have you had one yet?if you do have an ongoing condition it's a good idea to have one.

Take care.
