Hi doddsy.

Yes would have take as much info as you can to be honest !!!!

Is someone going with you as well ????

Take a tape recorder as well this will provide you with a true account of things afterwards.

Just in case things get troublesome !!!!

I hope this makes sense ????

Steve49 good advice Steve,Im trying not to sound to prejudiced but my experience with them wasnt wonderful until I got to the actual doctor and he asked me why I had been sent to him? and would I like a cup of tea, I think the container of pills and the Res-med machine probably helped. Why do you get seen by Nurses etc first? at least thats how they work around here, the interview was supposed to last 20minutes and I was grilled for 2 hours!!, my friend was chewing the wall paper and was livid with them, me, I had a raging migraine, the system needs to work better.

Sorry, I'll climb off of my soap box, it still makes me mad as you can tell, all that stress because they have a lot of power over our lives..stoppit lyzzie, before you get deleted!! Lyzzie x

It's best to take someone with you to carry your bag if you need to tape it you need to ask permission and it has to be on a twin tape machine unless the take a copy off your phone before you leave the room pip have strick rules on that they monitor your arrival and observations are being made throughout your visit hope all goes well for you

You can and should have copies for your own reference but i have twice been told at home PIP assesments that they cannot take any paperwork with them at a home visit, that doesnt mean they cant look at it but you cant give them a copy to take. I took all originals and a copy of everything to assessment centre and i cannot remember if the assessor took anything or not. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi doddsy

You can take your medical file with you, but I doubt very much they will look at or accept anything from you.

Please don't take a tape recorder with you. You need written permission to have your assessment recorded. When you have permission you need to take 2 tape recorders with you and leave one of the tapes at the assessment.

Do you have anyone attending your assessment with you?

It won't make the slightest difference, I have a pip assessment at 115 today & I haven't got my medical file as my doctor won't provide 1. I have a copy of my form I filled in & also downloaded the pip score sheet from citizens advice & looking at that unless I'm limbless deaf, dumb & blind I can't see that I will get payment! If you have a mot ability car unless you have the enhanced rate the car goes, if they have taken the Paraplygicts cars they most certainly will take ours. Good Luck because your gunna need it.😳😤😤

Take as much info as you can even if you don't get asked for it, it looks like you ready for any question I took mine only used 1 or 2 things I didn't use recorder and I got pip in June good look just be honest with them remember they want to no how you are on bad days ☺

I only took the latest copy of my Prescription as they already had all the copy letters on file that I had sent with my original huge long form I had to fill in. If they need further information they will contact your GP or Consultant anyway. If you have any letters since you submitted your claim form then you should take them. All the Assessor does is to do a report on you and then it is up to the DWP when they receive it to make a decision. I asked for a copy of my Assessors Report as you will need it to refer to when you are re-assessed again. The maximum is three years that you get PIP and then assessed again. I had a very good and kind Assessor who was a Nurse. Good luck.

doddsy Hi Doddsy, these are 'jobsworth' types, if this is your first assessment then they are Nurses and health professional, not doctors, you see a doctor if they dont like the look of you!!. Take as much paperwork as you possibly can, even letter from old appointments, if you have appointments at the doctors or hospital and you have confirmation letters take those too. Have they told you to take your medication? take everythingt, plus prescription refill forms, anything. Im serious here, they are going to make decisions on what they can see and read, if the insist on sending you to see the doctor thats probabley better as he or she will understand you illness better. Try not to work yourself into a lather over it, but it is stressful, but it wont last forever, good luck. let us know how you get on, Lyzzie x

As BlueMermaid3 says you do need permission to record an assessment and then they also require a copy from you. I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck for Tuesday. Fingers crossed for you.

All my hopes and dreams for you

To be honest i wouldn't bother or take it in a bag and wait to see if they ask for it.I can tell you that they watch every move you make & type or write down your answers to their questions. It is based on a points system and i think you need to score at least 15 in total accross different catagories so whatever your worst day/night feels like make sure you say your like that everyday. If you can make a simple meal you get nil points so tell them you need help or someone does it for you, plus you need help with personal hygeine, your always tired and have to go for a nap in the afternoon. The less you can do and the more help you need will build up the points, even if you don't need help tell them you do otherwise you will get nowhere. I went for one 2 years ago and was totally honest with them on how my condition affected me i was turned down,my friend really piled it on and got PIP plus 3 thousand 3 hundred pounds backdated payments as it starts from the date you claim if you are successful. I wish you lots of luck with your assessment and remember everyday is a bad day for you.I hope my reply helps you?..

They want to write about you and may ask you what your illness and disabilities are like for you. They said to me...It is like a headache? They want to know what a typocalday is like but don't actually ask. So jump right in and tell them They may leave all the windows open and sit you on a draught deliberately so tell them it is not acceptable. IThey may try and make you feel bad about yourself so that you lose IP or lose confidence. Be polite.Ask for a toilet break if you need five minutes to gather strength. Remember they don't want to give you anything. The staff are paid mega bucks to be condescending. They are a disgrace to humanity and can be equated to second world war concentration camps. They may say they can't do a report and you need a home visit and is there anyone there who can help them. If you take things with you they will assume you can carry a gigantic shopping load five miles to home and cook a meal. After spending hours in a Quee at upermarket. Be driven to appointment.Be driven home as otherwise they like to think you can walk to China and home in an hour. Remember it is them in the wrong not you.

Not what you're looking for?
