Pips and working

So for all the people who said what job you do isn't important when you try to claim pips - your wrong I'm afraid. I've been refused because of that. The fact I have loads if aids including a bed downstairs also went against me because it meants I am coping. Also the fact I looked at her and spoke well and seemed happy went against me. Not going to appeal, don't want to go through that any and be may out to be a lair. I will stick to working part time and put up with the extra pain from that. All thing is a big joke!

Please don't give up, I know how it feels when they do this, they've done it to me twice for ESA, keep fighting, do you have any support there? Is there a Welfare Rights that you can contact or any other advice place that might help?

Many many people work and claim PIP doing a variety of jobs.

Don't be put off if you think this is why you weren't awarded this benefit.

Like its predecessor DLA...we all failed at first attempt.

Have yu a copy of assessor's report giving details of why you failed?

I understand your frustration- I am trying to help my younger sister get PIP, they tried it on about her working but didn.t look at her job description, it had been changed to accomodate her condition but she still needs to reduce her hours due to fatigue and sleepless nights, so we are appealing- not appealing is what the DWP want, they hope we will go away after being refused (and too many people do), try as WF2k suggests and get help from yor local Welfare rights officer they are usually part of citizens advice..

Sadly this isn't the first time of heard of this. PIP is supposed to help you continue working so this kind of thing really annoys me but it does happen.

You do need to at least ask for a mandatory reconsideration stating reasons why you disagree with the result. They are counting on us giving in, don't give them the satisfaction.

Just because you use aids should not have gone against you. Aids make activities less difficult but that doesn't mean the activity doesn't still cause you pain each time you do it. That's the sort of argument you must put forward. Don't let this one assessment put you off claiming PIP, it's here for people like you whether you work or not.

This happened to me last year and I didn't appeal and I regret it. I have re applied and I am awaiting another assessment. Don't give up.

This happened to me at my pip. The report made lots of reference about me working. They didn't consider I work part time since working full time would be impossible due to fatigue. They didn't acknowledge any of the pain I experience. I wasn't going to appeal since like you felt they made me out to be a liar. I did appeal and I have been allowed by the upper tribunal to have my case reheard by a fresh panel and I will be attending. I don't have a date yet but will be glad when it's over with it's been a 20 month battle. Don't give up!

Don’t give up, they will expect you to appeal. Just see it as part of the process and nothing personal. Good luck! x

Please don’t give in .. appeal - if you give in your letting them think they are right .. you want them to be told they are wrong

Don't give up. People can work full-time and still be eligible for PIP. What matters is what you cannot do, and the points scores they use to award the various levels of PIP. Start with requesting a full copy of the Assessor's report if you don't have it. Don't rely just on the DWP letter. Once you have the report, challenge the errors, omissions and inaccuracies in it. Take it to Mandatory Reconsideration and if they still refuse to budge, go to Appeal. 3 out of 4 appeals are won by claimants.

I went through the whole process and went from no Daily Living to Enhanced Daily Living at appeal. DWP and Atos/Capita rely on people giving up. If it stresses you out, you can get help with this at your Citizens Advice Bureau,

You also have the right to complain about the report. The contact details for complaints are:
