Welcome to the best site you could find, the mad world of us Fibroites. You will get the official welcome from our wonderful,Admin friends (see, no comments Admin !), and from lots of others as well.

Here we happily explain our symptoms, which helps others to give ideas and support, in addition to Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), I have Sleep Apnoea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), plus this year a prolapsed disc. I'm lucky in that the RA and IBS are being well controlled, and with care, the disc is healing. So a few more details about other half's (OH) problems would help.

Join in on any post, as a member of the family you are welcome to. We banter, moan, support, suggest things, care, worry and rant sometimes, but no one judges you. Welcome again, and hope to hear soon on OH's problems.

Hayesider, 🤓. 🙂. 🙃

Hi, I only joined yesterday and it's the best thing I've done. Even with an amazingly supportive husband, nothing beats people who live and breath the same pain and fears you do. It's just such a relief to have found this site. I really hope it is useful for you and your wife. Oh and we'll done for coming on here for her, you sweetie x

You have come to the right place. It is really good of you to be looking for info for your wife as only too often our spouses don't understand.

So a very big welcome :)

Just as a word of caution. If you lock your post to this community you would get more responses :)

Hello MALKIS

Welcome to you and your wife to our lovely forum 😊

You may both be interested to have a look at our mother site together for a wealth of information on Fibromyalgia fmauk.org

Do you mind me asking whether it is possible for your wife to join us here? Don't get me wrong you are very welcome to be here and we will do our very best to help you.

The only reason I ask whether your wife could join us is so that she can feel the warmth and compassion here on the forum.

We are an all inclusive group and everyone is welcome to join in the fun, games and everyday nonsense that keeps us going through the pain.

However we do have our serious side and all do our best to support each other through the rough times.

If there are any specific questions you have please do post them. If you need any help finding your way around the forum please don't hesitate to ask and I will be more than happy to help.

You are obviously an extremely supportive husband which is wonderful.

Wishing your wife less pain and more peace

Lu x

Just to say welcome to you both itislobeky to hear from such a thoughtful husband. My OH is sympathetic but would like to bury his head in the sand about my condition and won't read up in any literature.

BlueMermaid3 has given you good linksi but if you say if there is anything specific we can try and help you with fire away. If we know what symptoms in particular are troubling your wife perhaps we can help in some small way as all fibromites are not exactly the same with symptoms. Look forward to your future posts.x

Hi MALKIS

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read that your wife is suffering and struggling and I was wondering if she has ever tried a TENS Machine? I have pasted you an excerpt and a link about them below from a *NHS / Arthritis Care pdf:

*What is TENS?

A transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machine works by creating a

tingling or buzzing sensation on your skin. This can help to block or suppress pain

messages to your brain.

TENS machines are small, lightweight, battery operated devices that fit into the palm

of your hand. They have rubber electrodes that attach to your skin, with leads

connected to the machine. The electrodes are either self-adhesive or attach to your

skin using water-based gel and adhesive tape. They are usually positioned either side

of the area of most intense pain. You will be able to control the strength (or

‘volume’) of the current that is passed through the electrodes, with a rotary knob or

dial. Some machines have larger controls that are easier to use if your hand

movements are limited.

Some TENS machines have two electrodes and some have four, used to treat a

larger area of pain. A low voltage current is passed through the electrodes and you

feel a buzzing or tingling sensation. This can be increased until the sensation is

slightly painful. You can then turn the current down until it is fairly strong but not

uncomfortable.

How can I try a TENS machine?

You can ask your doctor to refer you to a physiotherapist to try a TENS machine. If

TENS helps to relieve your pain, your physiotherapist is likely to give you between

20 minutes and a couple of hours with the machine. It may take a few sessions to get

used to. TENS can be used for one hour on, one hour off, throughout day.

I want to genuinely wish you and your lady wife all the best of luck, and please take care of yourselves.

All my hopes and dreams for both of you
