I have this itch on my arms. It comes and goes and doesn't have any particular trigger. It's not an allergic reaction either. Scratching does absolutely nothing to it. As my GP can't even spell fibromyalgia, I did some research of my own and found out it was a nerve problem. There are many nights that I've sat up and scratched in tears till morning. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has this. It's having a very huge and negative impact on my already painful and difficult life. I'm waiting with bated breath for a response.....

This itch is killing me. Help😢
My itches usually around waist and areas of my back that I cannot reach often eased by getting other half applying Antihistamine Cream. Can give short relief that allows some sleep if it works at all (overtired and nothing I have tried so far works)
Wow an itch you can't relieve? Sounds like a nightmare. The only itches I get are usually allergy related but as yours aren't I can only sympathise. Would an ice/cold pack help at all .. maybe numb you so you can't feel the itch? I'm sorry I can't be more help.
Whilst I itch a lot even although I know it's not an allergy I still take a one-a-day anti-histamine and that seems to calm it down a bit.
Hi LadyPenelope
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you also have this problem, and it is very unpleasant! I get it on my arms and on my back. I do have nerve damage which has been diagnosed by a consultant. Unfortunately, they only tend to give you creams for this and they did not work well for me.
There is a second nerve damage issue that causes itching but it also causes a burning pain, (I believe that I have experienced this on numerous occasions) and it is quite a weird phenomena so I have pasted a link to the NHS Choices cache below:

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi,
Firstly itch is not abnormal infact it is a very common occurrence with Fybro.
So now you feel a little better well a teeny bit. What can we do about it well quite a few things. Start by having a bath or shower and let tepid water sooth your body. Pat dry your body don't rub just gently pat or air dry depends how warn/hot you are. Now apply a cream- for example E45 or a really nice unscented body cream. You might as well pamper yourself while you are at it. The layer of cream usually takes the kick out of the itch :). Now make a cup of tea get comfy and gently sip your tea..
Now you need to find a diversion weather it is reading writing what ever colouring works just try ever so hard not to scrat at your skin and break the surface!
Good luck keep smiling could be worse ;0

I also have it and it just appears and also gets very hot !! It is a nightmare but as my nan used to say put some spit on it and rub it in (yuck) lol hope you get some relief soon.
I find germoline helps as it has a local antiseptic or sudocreme. Not helpful when it's your head that itches though 😕
Hi yes I asked the same question a few months ago and had very good help on here ...I take antihistamine as well but it's not an allergy
I came out in rash in various places the worse was on my head sort of like blisters.
Thought it could be changed washing powder or soaps etc so went back to very mild soap detergent it's trial a day error if it's something irritating your skin.
GP gave me stuff to wash in the worse of it calmed down but I still have it mildly
All the best
Ps I've been scratching my elbows in the night and that looks like dermatitis. ..oh joy
I have the exact same problem as I have a schwanoma on my brachial plexus!
Get Capsaicin cream from your doctor. It stops the nerves sending the pain signals back to the brain.
I use it and it works wonders.
Try upping B12 from methylcobalamin, D3 from cholecalciferol, & magnesium.
Hi itching is very annoying isn't it?. I get it all over. I find heat starts it off so I stay as cool as possible. Some medications can give you this especially oxicontin based one. It's common with fibromyalgia. I also take a bath with Epsom salts in and magnesium.
Gentle hugs.
Hi lady P, I to itch all over but usually only at night in bed. I have an appointment to see orthopedic surgeon in a few weeks for an operation to release trapped nerves in my wrists ((carpal tunnel ) . It can really drive you mad can't it which Is somewhat bizarre when you think of all the pain we go through , then a simple itch as well as the twitching muscles when trying to sleep drives you insane! I'm writing this waiting to see the doctor so will ask what she recommends. Take care Linda x
I've had this mostly on my arms and it seems especially bad first thing in the morning or last thing at night. As you so rightly say itching does nothing for it. I have found gently patting it with a damp flannel which has been soaked in cool water helps as does a thin layer of cool gel gently smeared over the affected areas hives some reliable ef. I also take a daily antihistamine whichI now take I the morning rather than at night as for some reason it seems to work better.
Hope you find something that helps. Do make sure any clothing you wear around the areas that are causing you problems is made of a natural fabric that will let your skin breathe and not hold in any sweat. Let us know how you get onx

my arms are a mess with scratching .... it feels like something crawling on them at times ... and I scratch for ages and there's nothing there .... I have started using a dry oil spray and it helps loads xxx
Hi,
I feel your pain or should I say your itch? It's awful and I want to tear my skin off. It's definitely a fibromyalgia symptom. I take gabapentin which works as a nerve blocker. And it really helps the itchy, crawling nerve pain. Also sometimes I sleep with ice packs on my skin. I feel like it deadens the nerves. It's cold but the alternative is worse. No sleep! Which makes all your symptoms worse. I also get that deep aching pain all over in my bones. The gabapentin does nothing. For that you need pain meds. I try to hold off as long as possible but sometimes I just have to take them. I hope you feel better. It sucks and Some days its overwhelming .
