I have had fibromyalgia for the last 8 years but recently l have been getting pins and needles and numbness in the left side of my face. At first it was just occasionally and l thought l had trapped a nerve but it is happening more offer and its like the world stands still just for a second or two. Does anyone else with fibro suffer with this

Not one I have experienced I'm afraid. But if Fibro affects the hinge joint in the jaw it stands to reason the tingly sensations would happen. Hope someone can help more 🐸

Yes, I've had the whole side of my face/head go numb and feel strange with some minor pins and needles. I could feel the exact places where the nerves ended at the halfway points on my skull down the middle of my head, dividing it in half. I have fibro and TMJ. I wasn't diagnosed with neuropathy until many years later and not in my head but in my lower legs, feet, forearms, and hands.

This numbness in my head didn't prevent most functions so I carried on with whatever I was doing and after many hours it gradually let up. It was a very uncomfortable and strange sensation. This happened a few times in my life and I can't relate it to another event or cause.

All I know is this: neuropathy, defined as pain, tingling and numbness, is in my forearms, hands, lower legs and feet. Cause is impinged nerves at my spine due to many problems that include herniated and bulging discs, stenosis, DDD. I've also been diagnosed with radiculopathy which would add weakness to my symptoms. I don't have symptoms all the time, they come and go. I can't complain much.

I refused surgery when my problems were severe and now I'm much better and very glad I didn't have the surgery.

Hi there

I've had Fibro for 34 years and have never experienced this feeling in my face.

Have you spoken with your GP about it?  If not, I think it would be a good idea to get it checked out.

There are various things it could be, so I think it would be best to err on the side of caution.

Obviously because I haven't had it doesn't mean it's not a Fibro symptom, but it can be very easy to put things down to Fibro all the time.

Wishing you a peaceful Easter

Hi Benson66

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue, and it is not one that I have had. I always think if it is a new issue or a persistent thing then it is best to discuss it with your GP just to have other medical conditions ruled out of the equation.

All my hopes and dreams for you
